Good Sunday morning,
That greeting still always brings to mind Mothermitzi's nice long, late night/early morning hour posts on Sundays that we all looked forward to. They were always so full of news of things going on in her interesting life. How I miss her. We never know how we touch others lives. -- That being said, I certainly can't fill those shoes, but I'll try to keep it in mind with my post this morning -
Cool air coming in, but the leaves are still, I know what that means - heat later on. Even saw a couple of joggers who, as they rounded the corner, slowed down, one to a walk, and wipe their foreheads. Cheerio had jumped up on the ironing board where I had laid a pile of towels fresh out of the dryer, and claimed them as her nap spot this morning. I opened that window, trying to lure her to a new spot, but I just heard her jump back to the board.
As for me, I did get the cookies and lemon loaf made, which, since it didn't make it to the freezer last night, has already been sliced for my coffee this morning. Funny, there are lots of lemon loaf recipes out there, this one is the handwritten one my mother made that I gave to G.T. and yet it tastes different depending on which of us makes it. My mother's was soo good. G.T.'s is soo good, and when I make it as I have only for the past couple of years, mine just doesn't have any where near the flavor his does. Wonder if part of is is that I sort of slap mine together in a hurry usually, but I know when he's making his there's a little love stirred into it, remembering my mother - my boys were all so close to her. Again, there's an example of a woman who had no idea of the memories she was creating for her family and how her influence would stay with them even into their adult lives. There's never a family gathering where her name doesn't come up with a funny little anecdote, usually from her grandchildren.
Ok, enough meandering, can't think of anything that would interest the masses, so I'll sneak out in my robe before neighbors are looking out their windows, and snip the dead buds off the butterfly bushes. Keep hoping for a good soaking rain, but I think I'd better bring out a jug of water to give them a drink too, just in case. Have a good day everyone.
