Put me down for Betty-Ann's in East Boston. Those cruellers are AWESOME!! hot out of the oven. The Jelly's are fantastic as well. I may have to go there this weekend.

In Response to Re: What are your favorite local doughnut shops?:Panara rocks! I love their Bear Claw in particular, and the coffee is strong but not bitter or sour. They could give lessons to Starbucks!

Kane's are really good, and big! Ohlin's in Belmont is a so-so bakery, the reason to go tho is their donuts. Love the sugared jelly, the honey dip and the plain old fashioned cake donut. Dunkin' may have good coffee but they blew it when they changed the donut recipe. -

The Dunk in Weymouth is the best...They still bake on-premises. Are there any others in ther area that do their own baking and don't rely on central warehouses with limited production lines. The Dunk in Weymouth still has fancies, though not as extensive as the old days. -

The best place for good old fashioned handcut donuts was Mike's Donuts in Everett on route 99 before they went out of business.
The only place I found that even comes close is a place called Allie's Donuts in North Kingstown, RI. They make an unbelievable coconut jelly stick that is so big you could probably split it in thirds. -

Heav'nly Donuts in the Merrimack Valley...
Family-owned and still in business after decades, they have expanded from their original location in Methuen and by far serve up the best donuts in the area with coffee that is as good if not better than DnD. Their cruellers are the best I've ever had, and their donut holes put all others to shame. A great, local success story.
Need to stretch those legs outside of the city/metro area, Globe...!! -

Also, a shout-out to the red bean-stuffed donut at the french-asian bakery in HMart, Burlington - the donut that eats like a meal.
And for all you jealous haters - if eating a hot, fresh, hand-made doughnut is wrong, then punch my ticket, 'cause I don't wanna be right...!!
