    Sichuan Gourmet in Billerica.  http://laosichuan.com/

Fresh, tasty, authentic.  Not average-American Chines, the real Sichuan thing. The Smoky Hot Shredded Chicken with Cayenne is unlike anything you'll find anywhere else!

    All four restaurants are special.

As usual, you folks ignore south of Boston.  La Dalat in Hull is astoundingly good.  They have a wide variety on the menu- Chinese, Sushi, Vietnamese Hot Pot and I've yet to have even a mediocre meal.

The Phantom Gourmet know nothing about Asian cuisine. They are scared of Chinatown and talk about Kowloon non stop because they are paid by Kowloon.

PAnda Castle in Malden,   much better than any other chinese restaurant in Malden.  Decent prices, serving sizes generous, and their delivery service is fast.

Chinatown at Cobb Corner at the Stoughton/Sharon line. They ship all over the country especially to Florida where hudreds of their customers spend the winter. Lisa and her husband are there most of the time and are always happy to see you. Stop in and say the Bank family says hello!!!!!!!!!!!

    Wang's Fast Food

    509 Broadway
    Somerville, MA 02145             (617) 623-2982

Their pork/leek and pork/shrimp/leek dumpling are the best in New England, rival any dumpling restaurant in entire east coast. Their wanton soup is also very decent. The skin of the dumpling is of  the right thickness and chewiness. The stuffing in side is a well balanced mixture of lean and fat meat and fresh leek. The leek is never too old. The dumpling is juicy but not dripping when you chew on it while the aroma and flavor burst open in your mouth and ascend to your nose.  For the best dumpling experience, call ahead and ask if they have freshly made dumpling, not frozen. Then go ask for fresh dumpling to dine in.

Note: This is a small place where you go for the food, NOT the ambient.

Not sure today with all the grease factories, but it used to be Wei Lui's in Saugus - hands down.

Too bad Rick didn't construct the palace on the hill and kept it to 1 or 2 restaurants.

Their food and drinks always blew away Kowloon and would still today if they were in business.

I agree for the most part about Sichuan Gourmet. They do the most oustanding job on authentic Sichuan dishes. However, when I want more "Standard" Chinese fare - something like General Gau, for example - I prefer to go elsewhere, often Yangtze River in Lexington. Their Hunan Fish Filet does the trick for me, among other dishes. And I like their Hot and Sour soup, too. The buffet at YR is decent enough, but not as good as menu items.

You said it - I'm so sick of hearing about Kowloon as if it were an authentic any kind of Asian.  Any place in Chinatown runs rings around the places Phantom recommends.
