    Sichuan Gourmet in Billerica.  http://laosichuan.com/

Fresh, tasty, authentic.  Not average-American Chines, the real Sichuan thing. The Smoky Hot Shredded Chicken with Cayenne is unlike anything you'll find anywhere else!

    All four restaurants are special.

I couldn't agree more! Sichuan Gourmet in Sharon - the Kung Bau Chicken is to die for.  Definitely not your average American Chinese...when most of the diners are Asian, you know you are eating the real thing.  Any of the dishes with eggplant will not disappoint. My husband and I were converted after our first visit.  The Sharon restaurant is located in a strip mall - but don't let the location dissuade you - it's a must try.

Royal Garden in Peabody is the Best!  The surrounding area might not be great but the food there is beyond compare.  I moved away about 14 years ago, but will still make the over and hour trek to get the best Chinese food around!

Wow.... Everyone who posted NEEDS to come into Chinatown, to get an idea of "real" chinese food. PF Changs? Surburban Chinese restaurants are a joke. Pathetic.

"Zoe's Chinese" in Cambridge (closed b/c building damage; should re-open this march).

    Depends what you get. Outstanding:

Cold beef tendon appetizer w/ pepper

    Pork tripe with hot pepper

    Mongolian lamb/beef

Lamb/beef with cumin and hot pepper

They also do a nice pork elbow. beef w/ greens and hot peppers is pretty good too. But the above four are my usual go-tos
