Seeing that Christmas and alot of it's traditions are German I think a nice Hacker Pschorr Pilsner would be in order!

Goose Island's "Bourbon County Stout," Pretty Things "Our Finest Regards" barleywine, Troegs "Mad Elf," and Dogfish Head's "Fort" are all quite tasty and festive.

I'd love some Alexander Keiths India Pale Ale Ale but sadly I can only get that in the Canadian Maritime's! -

Founders Breakfast Stout. Chocolaty and boozy, just the way I like my holidays. -

If you are looking for the best names and pretty decent beers, try England's Ridgeway "Santa's Butt Winter Porter", "Insanely Bad Elf", and "Lump of Coal" -

Samuel Smith's Winter Welcome is the best but nobody around here still sells it! If anyone knows where I can buy it South of Boston please e-me! Harpoon's Winter Warmer is my "go to" around here! -

Haven't tried them all but cannot imagine anything tasting better than the Berkshire Brewing Company's (BBC) "Holidale". Comes in decorative 22oz bottles and is brewed in Deerfield MA. Delicious batch this year!! -

We like Trader Joe's Vintage Winter Ale. It has a nice balance of warm spices with the bitterness of the hops, and at 4.99 a bottle, we can serve it in decent quantities at our winter get-together's without breaking the bank. -

Stille Nacht by De Dolle Brouwers is amazing and has one of the best labels of all time:

The Anchor holiday is outstanding as well. It is fair to refer to both of them as "liquid gold". -

If you like Winter Warmer (and I do, too), give Sam Adams Winter Seasonal Ale (sorry, not sure if that's the exact name) a try. I think it's a smidgen better than Harpoon's. Less hoppy. I do love a good hoppy beer sometimes, but I think the hops overwhelms the winter spices in Harpoon's just a little. -

But, as for my favorite winter beer, Sam Adams Chocolate Bock is rich and decadent and can stand in for coffee to go with your favorite Christmas desserts. -

Harpoon's Winter Warmer used to be my favorite and I would bring some back to Oregon when I visited Massachusetts. Oregon allows mailing wine and beer. Massachusetts would do well to follow suit. I haven't checked in the last few years, but I would be surprised if it's changed. Homesick 40 year old M@ssholes like me would help send a little scratch to the Commonwealth.
Some folks have mentioned Anderson Valley Winter Solstice and I concur that it is tasty and not too heavy on the spices.
