So I was de-glazing the droppings from my chicken to make my marsala sauce last night and really smoked up the house. We test our smoke detectors regularly by pressing the "test" button and replacing the batteries annually. However, last night, lots of smoke but neither of the smoke detectors near my kitchen made a sound.

I took all four detectors and purposely created a lot of smoke to really test them. 2 out of 4 did not go off. They were all clean, no dust, new batteries, the manual tests all worked, add a lot of smoke and we still only hit 50%.

As we watch daily house fires with people dying, I ask, how do YOU check your smoke detectors??? I was horrified that 2 of mine failed to actually detect smoke.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!
