    Last Minute Details???

My wedding is now 18 days away and I feel strangely calm and under control (which is a good thing).  I just want to be sure I'm not missing anything.  I have my final dress fitting Monday and someone will pick it up for me the following week.  By Sunday, we will have done the final meeting with all of our vendors.  I've wrapped all the attendant gifts, bought candles, guest book (actually, frame to be signed), and have all of our honeymoon details in order.  I planned to finalize my RD outfit and pack for our honeymoon this weekend.  Bathroom baskets and out of town guest bags are being done by my mom and cousin.  We applied for our license and picked up our rings today.  We are also taking dancing lessons (highly recommend as something fun to do at the end of planning - we're going to Out to Dance based on recs here).  I have lists of things to bring to the rehearsal and to the venue for the night before (since I'm getting ready there).  What could I be forgetting?  Lets hope I stay this calm...

    Re: Last Minute Details???

make a list of all the things that need to be brought to the reception location
make a list of vendors you need to be in touch with and what you need to tell them
make schedules for people with a lot of things to remember (rehearsal, hair, makeup appts, etc.)

...sounds like you are in really good shape though!  and glad you are enjoying your dance lessons!  Liz is the best. My husband and I would love to take lessons from her again if we ever have some time cleared in our schedules (salsa!).  If I recall correctly, you are using Bharat Parmar too (?).   (We used him--he's great!)

Your calmness just might stay with you.  The week before the wedding felt PACKED but I didn't feel stressed about it.  I had this floaty/blissful feeling inside.  It's a good thing--don't second guess it!  :)

    Re: Last Minute Details???

oh!  and you might want to print some maps for out-of-towners with directions to the rehearsal dinner, getting-ready locale, or wherever people need to be.  Have them ready to hand out.  THis is only relevant if you have a lot of out-of-towners though...

I've been making the lists and the map is on my fiance's list.  Thanks - good tips.  I am using Bharat - really like him and Liz is great.  I've been pretty quiet but taken lots of advice from these boards.  A list of vendor contact info is a good idea.  What about an emergency bag?  I have a tide stick, crochet hook (to help button small buttons on my dress) and safety pins and band aids.  Anything else?

    Re: Last Minute Details???

If your mom has already done bathroom baskets, you don't need anything else in your emergency bag. My MOH had a huge tote and we never even opened it.  Just bring any makeup you need for freshening up, and a brush or comb, and you'll be good to go.

Liz is the best for dance lessons. Glad you enjoyed her.

Good luck w/ the wedding.  Everything will go smoothly.  :-)

    Re: Last Minute Details???

If you haven't already done so you may want to provide each vendor with emergency contacts other than yourself.  I gave them my sister and mother's cell phone numbers in case anything goes wrong the day of. I know that I won't be wanting to answer the phone that day!

Also, if your ceremony and reception are at two separate places and you will be transporting flowers/decorations make sure you have someone lined up to do that for you.

Finally, enjoy!!  Best of luck in the next few weeks!

    Gonzo - congrats!  So exciting!!

We used Bharat too, and the only thing I regret is that I didn't tell him to do table shots.  So there are many people who were at the wedding who are not in any of the professional shots.  He was awesome though, as was his assistant (can't remember his name), and I love my photos.

I guess I'm jsut saying, go over your photo list VERY carefully and make sure you've thought of every group shot you'll want.

Have fun!!  I wish I could relive it. :)

When you make your list for things to bring with you to the church, do not omit anything you think is a no brainer like your dress, for instance.  Write every single article down as you think of it no matter how obvious it might seem or how unlikely it seems you'd possibly forget.

I left my veil at home, and my DH to be risked life and limb speeding home and back to the church for it.  He made it in miraculous time, wasn't late, and I had my veil (which I insisted I could live without), but it was a lot of unnecessary stress for everyone!

    P.S.  And, I had a list!!!

Figure out if you want to tip any vendors and how much.  Have envelops prepared a couple of days in advance.

To echo Poppy, figure out any must have photos.
I would even go so far as giving the list to your MOH or someone you can trust to be assertive.  We forgot to take a couple of key photos (even though they were on the list I gave to the photog).  Now when I go to a wedding I have no problem being the tiniest bit pushy... Like at the last one, we were about to take the family shot without the bride's sisters (of all people!) and I said, NO I will go find them!

    Re: Last Minute Details???

poppy--My husband regrets not having table shots too.  I was hoping to get lots of informal group shots during our cocktail hour, so it didn't occur to us that we would need table shots.  However, things ran late, and we ended up using our cocktail hour to take our formal portraits (which we didn't manage to squeeze in pre-ceremony as planned).  Sigh.  Bharat didn't travel around with us as we greeted each table during dinner (in an effort to remain unobtrusive, I think), so there are a few people who aren't in any or many photos.

Honestly, we have so many lovely pictures, and then a great video too, that it doesn't really bother me.  We got big group family shots with our entire extended family (all 4 branches separately), so every person who is related to us is in one of those pictures.  My family and our friends were tearing up the dance floor all night, so we have a lot of fun pics of them as well.  My husband's family isn't so much into dancing (they missed out, in my opinion!), so we ended up with fewer pics of them, which may be partly why he regrets not requesting table shots.

Something for Gonzo to think about, I guess.  :)

It sounds like you're in good shape. I was really calm right up to about 3 minutes before the ceremony, then I started crying (tears of joy), lol. Definitely make lists and put on the most obvious things. Do you need to check on hotel reservations for the wedding night?

Check the knot's list. Cross off all of the stupid junk you're not doing, and then it'll give you a good idea of what you need.

    Congratulations!

    Hairspray in the emergency kit.

The only other thing I can think of is the little stuff: escort cards/table cards, seating chart (however you're telling people where to sit)- who's putting that stuff out? The venue? one of the attendents?

just try to visulaize it all, do a run-through in your head, and see what comes up.

Jasmine - We actually didn't do an album through Bharat... I figured I'd do my own online.  While the online ones are great, I haven't found a site that has enough options for what I really want it to look like, so I am now considering going back to Bharat.  It was not included in my costs, so I'd have to pay separately... When you do get yours, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Hi Poppy!  Did you check out Somerset Albums?  I have been researching album companies where you can make your own and they seem like the best company for real, flushmount photo albums like the photographers offer.  If I were to make my own, I'd probably use them.  But most likely we are going to have our photographer do it since I have been thoroughly impressed by her so far.

ETA:  oh, the other place to check out is Adorama.  I have recently heard that they do flushmount photo books for like under $50!  That would be a steal if they are good!

sounds like you have it all together and these tips are helpful!  I was very calm right up until the moment and then I started to cry when I walked out and saw all the people at the ceremony!

One thing I wish I brought was a robe for getting ready.  We stayed at a small Inn and they didn't have any.  It would have made things much easier.
Also, as a last minute thing, we made a mix on the Ipod and I brought my IDock to play while we were getting ready at the Inn - otherwise it's just too quite.  I have music on all the time, so for me, this was a must!

Good luck!!  It will be a fabulous day!

    Thanks, Trex!

Great idea about the music, bostonslp!  When my bridesmaids and I were getting ready I think we were all a bit nervous and it was SILENT!  I wish I had thought of bringing music!

haha--music is great!  I brought a little stereo and made a play list and then forgot to put it on until about the last 30 minutes of getting ready.  It was nice though, once I remembered!
