    RSVP Date

    Hi ladies,

I'm starting to think about invitations and planning when I need to order them/send them out.  I know 6-8weeks is a good timeline but what type of buffer should I allow myself before my final numbers are due to the venue on Dec. 17th?   Since I'm dealing with holiday season, I'm thinking I should have it at the beginning of December so would a one or two week buffer be better?

    Re: RSVP Date

I have been trying so hard to recall, but I can't remember how many days I gave myself!  7-10 days before the numbers are due to caterer sounds like enough time to me.
We had a bunch of non-responders, but it really didn't take long to track everyone down.  I asked each of our mothers to contact certain people and get back to me asap.  And then obviously contacted our friends myself.

    Re: RSVP Date

Thanks, I think I will put it for the first week in December and give myself that 2 week cushion in case I have to track down people.  Since I've put my STDs out I have heard through relatives of people who won't come but still planning to send the invite to make sure plans haven't changed and get that in writing that they aren't coming.

Now to pick out the invitions... Cool

I did 4 weeks - but didn't nag people for their responses until about 2 weeks out.  I wanted the final number for myself (and my projects - seating chart, escort cards, etc.) with plenty of time before crunch time...  so when the final number was in for the caterer, my last two weeks were very relaxing.  (It worked so well!)

    Re: RSVP Date

Hi, NYE.  I would recommend you mail them out around 11/15 with an RSVP date of November 30.

It's purely psychological, but if people see a RSVP date in December, they will put it aside "for later".

Thanks Cosmo.  I think that you are right...less time they have to put it aside better off they are to reply sooner and on time.

    Re: RSVP Date

Hi NYE!  Just noticed your post!  We're 8/21/2010 so if we mail on Tuesday (we're SO late!) that is about 6.5 weeks before the wedding.  We did send save the dates and it is a small wedding, so I'm not too worried.  We asked for a RSVP date of 8/1/10.  I kind of wish I had made it a week later since we are so late in getting them in the mail.  Our venue doesn't need the final numbers until 3 days before the wedding, but I wanted time to do the seating charts, etc.
