All people blow things out of proportion and have a fit sometimes.  If a spouse can't handle that or, better yet, serve as the best sounding board you've ever had and can make you laugh at yourself at the end of the day...

I'm a freak about anonymity, too.  I'm going to post to BDC and see if there's a way to exchange private messages coming soon.

P.S.  It is totally possible.  eHarmony allows you to use their site as an anonymous drop box for free form messages after you go through all the structured hoops and before you decide to give over your personal information.  You don't have to give ANY personal information until you want to.

Why not just set up fake email addresses?  Like Goodness1@gmail.com and kargiver@yahoo.com, or whatever.

Not ideal, I know, but it would work.

I keep thinking of the Rupert Holmes song "Escape" whenever I think about becoming non-anonymous.

So I waited with high hopes, then she walked in the place.
I knew her smile in an instant, I knew the curve of her face.
It was my own lovely lady, and she said, "Oh, it's you."
And we laughed for a moment, and I said, "I never knew"..

Sure, that's fantastic, Goodness - looking forward to it.  I'm happy to have this account that I can give anyone and not worry.  Too bad work won't let you check from there.

Lucy, I really appreciate the suggestion.  I should have thought of it myself; thankfully, you had your cap on.

What's sort of funny about it, though, is that we'll still be anonymous!!  HA!!  Maybe someday, we'll each tell the other who we are.

I'll set up an account, then we'll go back and forth on e-mail for a bit.  One fine day... I'll tell you who I am.  All the mysteriousness will vanish :)

Yeah, no serial killers yet. We should make more no-serial-killers-allowed playdates.

But wouldn't it potentially be more interesting if we set up a playdate in a back alley and invited a serial killer or two?  Especially if we don't know what people look like, so you have to guess.

I agree that alerting the bar staff is a very good way to make sure no one over-indulges. You can also simply notify the bar staff not to over-indulge anyone.

In Response to Re: Wedding Invites:
[QUOTE]Epigal, I would think it partially depends on what kind of venue you're using...  If a hotel, country club, restaurant type place with a full staff , you could have someone point out Mr. Charming to the bartenders to keep an eye out for him, and have the Function Manager also be aware that he may need to be escorted out at some point. If you'll be at a function hall or tent with caterer staff, you can't expect the caterer's waiters to be your bouncers, and you don't want to ask your guests to do that unpleasant task if someone needs to be removed.   That's a little more tricky. You can invite your friend solo and when she asks "what about Mr. Charming", you can say that he's not invited.  Have you met him personally?  Is it possible that the bad behavior is being exaggerated by gossip (or Facebook)?  Bottom line:  if she's really your friend, talk to her about your concerns and ask what she would do.  You do not want a miserable drunk at the wedding.  They always become what everyone remembers most and it's horrible!  Good luck!

I completely agree.  I like these boards because I can come on here, be totally honest, and get really great opinions and advice.  Even if there are things that I don't want to hear, it helps me look at things from a different perspective.  I love that about the boards.  Plus, knowing that you're all just super nice people is an added bonus.
