In Response to Re: What colors did you choose? : Huh?  Isn't that what those little tent cards that tell you what table you are at are called?  Whatever those are.  :)

I thought those were just placecards.  It's a term I've never heard, and I literally spent five minutes trying to figure out what they were.  I was like, "This card tells you who will walk you down the aisle?  Do BMs need those?"  Undecided

Another reason I should just head on over to City Hall.

I thought they were called place cards and that escort cards were what ushers used to escort people to their seats. So you'd have one or the other, not both.

I think placecards would be on the tables already, technically.  So what most people call placecards are actually escort cards... But I could be wrong.

    Thank you all so much!!!

FI is totally on board with magenta. The only thing he requires is that his guys not wear matching vests, which is fine. He actually came up with the idea of them wearing silver vests and ties, which would look really good against the dark pink.

I could talk about color-combo all day...

LOVE that color Peonie, and actually I love that dress everytime I see it in a magazine.  :)  These are our dresses (short one on the right, in fuchsia as shown):

I love both of those dresses! TRex, the broach does so much to jazz it up! Very nice.

FWIW, this is the dress I picked out for my girls. I just liked it in a magazine but the dress shop didn't have it to try on. I ordered it anyway and I really like the way it looks on the girls so far. I absolutely had to have two-toned dresses. Half of my girls are in cotton candy dresses with espresso trim and the other half are in espresso dresses with cotton candy trim. I wish they didn't use white on the sample. It's hard to see the cuff on the bottom.

We got married on 8/23/2008. I had wanted Turquoise and Lime green to be our colors. We didn't have a wedding party, so no bridesmaids to choose colors for. My bouquet was made without any input from me, and ended up having peach colored roses and lots of green. The caterer didn't have turquoise or lime green napkins, which really would have been the only place you saw the color, but he had yellow and teal...so, we went with that. Done and done.

Peonie - I think I'd call your color "raspberry" ... you may have more luck searching that keyword rather than "magenta" ... just for future reference.  We did navy and coral and I was constantly searching for the word "salmon" instead.  Just an idea for future color searching!  (Which I admit I was a bit obsessed with.)

Thanks PK - and now I see the color combination everywhere...Poor DH is sick of me shouting "wedding colors!" every time I see navy and coral together.  I wonder if I'll always do that...or if I'm still in the post-wedding glow phase!

It's almost been three years for me and I still think "wedding" when I see cobalt blue. It's like how after you get a certain car you suddenly start seeing that car everywhere. Once your brain knows to look for something it seems like you see it all the time. I don't think it ever goes away.

Re: What colors did you choose?

Lil, you are right...in my head the whole time the color was "raspberry", but then I would look at dresses and raspberry was either super bright, or something completely different, like purple! What is really weird, is that the color I LOVE from the After Six collection, which is literally the same exact color from that picture I posted is called "Merlot". Which, wouldn't you think would be a deep burgundy?? How designers come up with names, I have no idea....

LilSprout, I do the same thing!  Except when I see those shades of pink and green it is typically decoration for a baby girl's room.  What does that say about my taste? :oP

I do that too!  well, i haven't thought of shouting that, but usually i just say, " Look, red, orange, gray - what does that remind you of??" DH doesnt' get very excited, but maybe if i start shouting wedding colors, he will :)  worth a shot.
we are buying a house and when i told the parents that i want to paint the dining room gray with pops of orange and red, they all just looked at me and said, that sounds familiar - but didnt' seem too excited - oh well!

In Response to Re: What colors did you choose?:
I think magenta is a great color. I wanted to use it, but DH was not enthusiastic about a pink wedding, and it didn't really go with the interior of the Aquarium. I wanted to keep things monotone to make my life easier so using it as an accent was out.. So, I chose cobalt blue to play off the water, blue is DH's favorite color, and cobalt blue is one of my favorite colors. I did a monotone theme with it. Everything was either cobalt blue, a lighter shade, or white. My shoes, paper flowers, centerpieces (accented with white starfish), invites, linens, my shawl and all the BMs were in blue. I just gave my BMs a color swatch and told them to pick whatever dresses they wanted in that color. my BIL and his FI's wedding is going to be magenta and grey. I would have never thought of that, but it's such a sophistictaed combination.

Pink - those are basically my colors!  I have a "watermelon" pink which is basically magenta, and the guys are wearing gray tuxes.  I'm embracining the pink and gray/silver theme!  :)

Re: What colors did you choose?

prill i saw your invites and just thought i would pass along a personal experience.

a good friend of mine also had black/magenta wedding w/ invites and response cards printed black w/ pink font.
when we went to write our reply on the designated lines....neither blue or black pen of course would show up on the black card.

we ended up writing our comments on the back (which was white) so no worries - but just something i thought i would pass along.

as a side note - i have LOVED this post on the wedding colors, very inspirational.
