I also got my BM dress!

Within weeks of getting my dress, I went shopping with my girls and got the BM dress picked out as well.  Yay!

Below is a picture (I think...) and a link.  I'm going with watermelon pink:

Wow, I *LOVE* that!  And that is the color I'm thinking of for my wedding.  Can I ask how expensive they were?  Where are you getting them from?  I need something not strapless for my girls, but I love the color!

Re: I also got my BM dress!

One of the strengths of Levkoff is different lines, in different price ranges,  but at any given time bridesmaid gowns echo the features (but do not copy)  many designers are using in their current designs.

For example, when many are doing asymmetrical gathers on  bridal gown skirts, this type bm dress is a perfect complement, yet not so elaborate and fussy as the bride's, so whether one classic look bm or 6 in a row,  you never get a bridal party that is over the top.
You would not laugh at someone who found a nice evening jacket and wore it out for an evening, thinking what awful bride made her spend money on that?
Unfortunately, not done by many designers in their bm gowns.

    Nice, classy, understated choice.  Beautiful.

    Ditto Trex.  No offense Wag!!

I think I saw a similar color in Jasmine BM dresses which to run around $150-200.

I personally think - and others have commented -  that the majority of bridesmaid lines , like prom and Quinceneara dresses, are so easy to spot as what they are.

Some combination of the cut or style, often the latest fad,  and of course fabric, with embroidery and beads and bows.
The  colors in a bride's color scheme may only suit half the ladies, and are just plain unattractive on others.
The lime green dress with the hot pink sash and the big butt bow, the eggplant or hot pink ballet style in tulle,  they will always look like bridesmaid dresses.

I think lots of BL designs every year are classic enough that in the right colors, you can put on a dressy jacket or not,  and head out to a New Year's party or cocktail affair, and look fine.

Maybe you have never been out with a group and had one of the women talk about someone - saying what a laugh, what bridesmaid is missing her dress?  when someone enters a cocktail lounge with a man in sharp looking suit and tie and the woman  looks like a bridesmaid and not a sophisticated lady.  I have, and several women all laugh.
How many posts have you seen where someone says,  If I am spending $300 for a dress and alterations I want to be able to wear it again?

A bride wanted my sister to wear this perfect bridesmaid dress to a wedding in Las Vegas.   Sis in mostly pink pictured,  the other bm's in the colors of green sherbet with  pink and yellow, and orange sherbet  with  pink and yellow.  All with matching big orange bows in back.

JOVANI 2010 PROM/ EVENING DRESS 152296  Oh yeah, she'd get a lot of wear out of that, living in Montreal. They wore these Levkoff dresses in the end, and only the tropical flowers they imported were in sherbet colors.  Better.
If you do not see these as I do, at top a limited use bm gown that would be laughable for a near 30's woman at an evening club or party  in the city, or a casino lounge,  vs the typical Levkoff classic below,  I can't explain it.

LOVELY choice!!  I'm sure your BMs are thrilled to wear such a stunning dress.  Thank goodness the days of poofy sleeves and big bows are OUT.

    Blessings,

whata- if I saw someone wearing that pink and orange dress I wouldn't think they were a bridesmaid, I'd think they were nuts.

Thanks ladies!  I also love pink - I warned all my girls when I asked them to be in my wedding that they would have to wear pink!  haha.  My wedding is in August.  I went with long dresses because of a BM with some health/leg issues, luckily the taffeta is a light fabric, and most of my wedding is indoors in air conditioning!

Long dresses in August mean talc on the legs and NO hose for many  who do not look so formal and elegant without stockings in a shorter length dressy dress .   Hurray for long dresses!

Hi Trex - I went to Christina's in Andover with my girls.  The store gave them 15% off since I had more than 5 bridesmaids (I have 6).  I forget the exact numbers, but I think the dresses were originally like $215 so around $180 with the discount.  The shop certainly didn't fawn all over us, but I liked their selection, and that's what was important to me.  They let us just dive in and try anything on we wanted to.  When I liked a dress they showed me that designer's fabric swatches.  Worked for me!

Great!  Thanks for the advice Twinklie!  My wedding is in August too, and I want long, probably pink dresses!  Hopefully a chiffon won't be too hot for my BMs.

The bridal dress I"m looking at so far is satin, which I"m a little worried about being hot in.  But it will be a short ceremony outside, maybe 30 mins, and then AC for the rest of the day!

Twinklie, I'm going to use Cristina's too. Seriously huge selection of dresses, and great discount! I think I'm going for a shorter style, but I really like your dress!

Re: I also got my BM dress!

as long as it's an evening wedding they shouldn't be overheating. you only have to to worry about that when you've got BM's draped in satin standing in the summer sun outside for hours. August evenings are always nice and cool.
