[QUOTE]I dont know. This has always been kind of a sore subject with me and I have been berated for it. But, I went to basically an all black school in NJ. I was one of like 3 white kids in my class. It meant nothing to me as it was k-2nd grade. Then my family moved to NH and there was only one black family. So, I have never looked at anyone of any race as any different. You could be black, asian, blonde, short, etc....its all human to me. What does bother me is the using past history as an excuse to justify present issues. Even Al Sharpton has toned down his uproars and instigating riots, thank goodness. Yes, bigotry and racisim is always going to exist because hate is always going to exist. Its up to YOU as the individual to rise above it. I mean if that were the case, I should blame anyone who isnt American Indian for the demise of my people and the taking over of my land and why we have become drunks, drug addicts, over-weight gamblers. Its just wicked stupid in my book.

Jeepz, re: the school thing - my wife, during the last few years she and her family lived in Brooklyn, went to a nearly-all-black school where she got beaten up daily because she was white.  Slapped, punched, breasts (at age 12) grabbed and squeezed painfully on the bus - it all happened.  Yet she had black friends in her neighbourhood with whom she got along just fine.  You're right about individuals - it's within our power as such to rise above it and be accepting, or to stay down in it and fester.  Festering is, in my book, wicked stupid.

[QUOTE]Even if they drive a Jeep, Jeeps? No points for the GM Family? No matter what road I am on, it's always the Toyota that's being a jerk.

I find it's usually BMW drivers, Sal.  It's as if owning a Beemer excuses the driver from keeping their brain switched on while behind the wheel.

[QUOTE]Exactly. Native Americans got far worse than any other race here. But they also are predjudice against other Native Americans. I cant get any casino money because I am a smidge off in terms of %. But I am also Swedish and not happy about missing the boat on the Ikea thing either.

Well, blacks are prejudiced against other blacks, too.  The whole "sold out to Whitey" thing always bugs me - you stayed in school, stayed out of trouble, graduated (with honours, even), got a good job, made money and made your way in the world and, most of all, STAYED OUT OF TROUBLE, and you "sold out to Whitey"?  Those same people who say that are also the ones who scream the loudest about being held back by "da Man" (and exactly the type Spike Lee was referring to).  Cognitive dissonance and prejudice often go hand in hand.  And white people are certainly not innocent of this between themselves, either (e.g. "No Irish Need Apply," the brutal treatment of the Irish and the Scots by the British for 800 years, the Holocaust, "ethnic cleansing" in the Balkans [all those Muslims in the former Yugoslavia were white] - and OK, calling those atrocities "prejudice" is the understatement of the century, I grant you, but you see where I'm going with this).

"Quick to judge, quick to anger, slow to understand -
Ignorance and prejudice and fear walk hand in hand."

[QUOTE]Anytime someone quotes Rush, the only thing I can think of is the movie FanBoys .  Great movie, unless you happen to be an enculted Roddenbitch.

[QUOTE]My cousins from Maine always called us Massh*les.  We always called them Mainiacs, so it evens out.

When I lived in New Hampshire my friend John would go whenever we're driving "I'm surrounded by Mainiacs and Massh*les, and Vermont? WE aren't even going to GO there..."

He couldn't figure out how to add Canada in that line.
