    Stupid Commercials

OK, I know we've all seen way too many idiotic commercials.
My current "winner" is the tv ad for Ken's Steakhouse 71st anniversary.
The "celebrity" spokesperson they have says that he can't believe it's their 71st anniversary, because "it seems like just yesterday I went to their 10th anniversary in my '57 Chevy".
Really?  I can still do simple math.  I might believe it if he said his car was a DeLorean.
If you go there, I recommend you double-check the addition on your bill.

    What ads drive you nuts?

Do you look like a POSTER-CHILD for this Commercial - Take Our Certifiable Test and find out.  Come On Down and take the Test - free experimental Meds are fully in stock now - so Come On Down - get your certifiied signed and sealed.  The line to get in is miles long - Remember their are more out than in.

    Vague enough?

I think it's those Cialis ones I don't understand at all.
Aren't those the ads where they each end up in separate bath tubs at the end of every one of those commercials?
I never figured that part out, but I didn't major in semiotics either.

Good choices. I don't know what semiotics means, but neither do I understand how showing a couple spending time in separate footed bathtubs in the meadow means they are having more sex. I, too, despise the grandson considering how someday he wants to own his own home...he's five, what little kid pines for home ownership? To add, I hate the entire Amica campaign of, "we don't just offer insurance, we'll be your BFF." Maybe that is effective in other areas of the country, but here in NE, we want you to take care of business immediately with as few words as possible, not a new friend in our insurance agent. Their ads make them the last company I'd want to have to deal with. "you and me, blah, blah..." totally turns me off.

    Re: Stupid Commercials

I agree, other insurance companies are doing a great job in their campaigns; clever and funny. I especially like Allstate's personification of mayhem ads from the original "cute [distracting] jogger" to the current dog one where they use his calling out, "HEY!" as a bark. There's not one that doesn't work really well IMO. And, to be fair to Amica, I've lived in the south, and I'm positive their buddy-buddy approach would be effective. Everyone down there wants to be your best friend immediately...odd.

    Re: Stupid Commercials

Why does every ad for an automobile, even if it's just being parked on the street, have a little disclaimer at the bottom saying "Professional driver, closed course.  Do not attempt".
If I'm not supposed to drive the car on or off road, or park it somewhere, what am I supposed to do with the thing?

Is this were we complain about commercials?

What the hell happened to Southwest Airlines?

They had a great funny, goofy campaign going with the whole "Grab your bag" "Bags fly free" thing.

Now they're all artsy fartsy with the colored balls and mellow music garbage.
