Can't tune in to the Globe

As of 5:30 am, January 4, 2013, the Globe's open Web pages were taken over by user-hostile ads that try to steal identifying information. When using Internet Explorer 6, these ads stop pages from displaying and make the pages unreadable. So with our preferred environment, we can no longer tune in to the Globe, except between about 1 am and 5 am, when the hostile ads are currently taken offline.

We easily tune in to the New York Times, the Guardian (UK), WTOP (Washington, DC) and Yahoo News, so the Globe is likely to be scratched from our Favorites list. We're not going to change browsers, because the newer ones (intentionally, we suspect) open several more doors for theft and mischief, and they provide lower productivity.

Re: Can't tune in to the Globe

App, I've turned this over to our BG.com team. I assume that's the site you're referring to, and not Boston.com?

Can sometimes tune in to the Globe

We can still tune in to the Globe from 2 am to 5 am and sometimes a little beyond, but that depends on ads--of which the automobile ads are usually the worst. Unlike its NY Times parent and sweet daddy-o, the Globe does not filter the ads it puts up, and it socks all readers with some of the most abusive. We are software developers with over 40 years experience, and we can "can" and we do "can" each of those abusive ads instantly, but most readers do not know that, courtesy the Globe, they are being abused.

Re: Can't tune in to the Globe

Again, AppDev, are you talking about Boston.com or BostonGlobe.com?

    Thanks.
