So, Dottie, what will happen to the boards, any idea? Just heard on WBZ TV news that the New York Times is selling the Boston Globe and Boston.com, as well as the Worcester Times.

They only just put it up for sale the other day, trumpet. They dont have a buyer yet. It may take a while before they find one too
Kind of premature to be worrying about what affect the sale (if there even is one) will have on the users of this message board, dont you think?
Not to mention selfish!
Poor dottie is worried about job security right now. Have you no feelings for her situation? Last thing on her mind is what will become of this dumb message board. I suspect she hopes it tanks though, dont you? -

Ernie Boch, Jr. and Bruce Mittman are interested in buying it.
Not premature for those of us who have kept the C.C. flowing for years now, to be worrying about the fate of the boards. Friendships have formed, and unlike these threads down here, there's active participation every day.
I realize there's the possibility of some layoffs, but Boston isn't going to get the Globe go down the tubes, so I don't think there's any danger of it going kerplunk.

Money keeps things flowing! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVZw3MK50Rk
So I hope forum users will consider spending a few bucks a month for a subscription and continue to enjoy the Globe, if need be to keep it afloat!
ETA:
The New York Times Company has received an offer of more than $100M for the Boston Globe, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Two enduring institutions: The Boston Globe and OBN
I wonder if Boch Jr will pay more once he finds out tt and pingo are part of the package? -

Anagram for "Ernie Boch" -> I Cheer OBN
Wow. Talk about a scary subliminal message, huh? If that doesnt shock all of you to rise up and block the sale of the Globe to EB Jr, I dont know what will
Mark my words: Once a deal is struck, tt will become drunk with power. She will be even more insufferable than she is now. OBN will be in position to take over the world
The sale must not go through!

Sung to the tune of "Danny Boy"
Oh, Ernie Boch,
we're waiting here at BDC.
Across the boards, we're hoping your bid wins.
You'll recognize the value of our chatter,
and revenue the C.C. thread brings in.
Oh Ernie Boch
sure 'n tell us it's a done thing -
and that this sale will keep our Globe afloat -
that you will keep the Forums section going,
You've got our vote, Oh, Ernie Boch, you've got our vote.
The Confidential Chat Ladies, affectionately referred to in this thread as "OBN"

Bravo, trumpet. Well done. Your best work ever in my opinion
Youre clearly delusional though. Revenue generated by OBN, huh? OMG Hallucinate much? Youve been eating too many tainted mushrooms again, and it's starting to affect your brain
Also, you have no say on who becomes the next owner of the Globe, so your "vote" is irrelevent. Thank God for that. If your vote counted for anything around here, both Robin and I would have been purged from the board years agoGood parody though. Finely executed. When a position on my Biv Day songwriting staff becomes available, I'll let you know, okay?
Until then, stop pining away for Junior Boch. Your open display of fangirl idolatry is embarassing -

Hey tt, don't worry about the forums going away. They're too popular to drop them.
FYI, the entire sale process is going to take 6 to 9 months.

Dear Mrs trumpet,
Nothing positive to report. Negotiations are at a standstill. This may take longer than I thought
Sincerely,
EB
PS If the salesmen in my showroom worked this slowly trying to close a deal, they'd all be fired by now
