Do you think your T ride is safer?

I am a very infrequent T rider. That being said, I have been surprised of late of how unsafe I feel in the stations. The trains seem ok but the stations are more crowded and have hardly any T employees around (not that I'm sure they'd deter crime). Because it seems to take forever for the train to come (Green line) the platforms just get more and more crowded making it easier for criminals to get at potential victims. At Park Street recently a pickpocketer tried to steal my pocketbook as I was waiting for the D line sandwiched in by others who had been waiting forever - I yelled at him and scared him off - but there were no T employees or cops to report it to. No other passengers even really took notice. I've avoided the T ever since - I'm lucky that I have the luxury of not taking it since I don't work in the city.

    The ride is definitely safe.

Its the platform, and outside the T where I get worried.
