Looks like first class.  Then again does any priest in the boys club ever go less than  first class when they get past the parish level?

I'll bet the airline upgraded him to first class.  He's a humble, holy man who works hard and he deserves nothing less.  When he first came to Boston he gave up the princely Cardinal's residence in Brighton to stay in a humble residence by the Cathedral.

It's not first class, it's Business, there is a seat next to him.

Idiotic muckraking question. Beyond that, it looks more like business class than first, but maybe he was upgraded by the airline, maybe he used his own miles to upgrade, maybe the Vatican paid for it, who cares?

Does it really matter?  It's totally irrelevant and a non story.

Its really sad that this is the discusssion's focus. This is an extraordinary moment in the history of a profoundly important and profoundly troubled institution. Cardinal O'Malley has significant talents from which the institution would benefit but so do others. Why not talk about the relative strengths of various candidates rather than where they're sitting on the bus?

What a joke... a bunch of guys who hid and swept away decades of child-rape electing the new leader of a faith.  Good luck.

This picture is of Air France's business class.  Air France flies First and Business to BOS, but the picture is certainly of business.

The man is a prince of the Church and he's going to elect the next pope.  He is probably flying in business class and given the circumstances, it's doubtful that he paid for the upgrade.  Give it a rest and be proud that Boston is being represented in such a monumental event.

Re: Is Cardinal O'Malley flying first class?

This is a ridiculous question---the airline may have upgraded him, he may have gotten airline miles. He has been nothing but a humble, well-intentioned man his entire life. The Globe has some nerve even insinuating he travels in first-class comfort, when he sold the former Cardinal's mansion to live in an inner-city rectory.

The Catholic religiion (and Christianity in general) is the biggest marketing scam/farce in the history of man. Land worth billions which isnt taxed... holding out their hand for more money every week for a product which has proven over centuries to be able to show one 'miracle', one piece of proof that 'Jesus rose from the dead', or proof of a single 'modern day miracle'. If people are suckers enough to believe it and keeping paying into the till then they are the losers. Give your money to cancer research - that is truly how you might save a life and make a difference.
