Shuffle up and Deal

The State house just passed a casino bill. What say you? Good move, bad move or just another case of Beacon Hill being a day late and a dollar short?

This might have had potential 10 years ago.  Now it's just replacing the lost job-placement service that the probation department served.

I look forward to the casinos coming to MA. Saves me the trips to CT. I got rolls of quarters ready to go!!
I like the occasional game of hold 'em, so it might provide a diversion once in a blue moon. All I can say is the typical somewhat hypocritical position: Ok, but just not in my backyard, thank you.

Next to 45's...Texas hold'em is probably one of the most fun card games to play...
I think a lot of people probably hold that position..nice but not in my neighborhood. I don't really care about casinos one way or another..but I would probably feel differently if they were building one a mile up the road. The added jobs is a positive..

Will it be a real casino? Or just banks of them stupid machines that you have to feed money to?

There is no point getting all dressed up like James Bond to put a dollar into a machine.

Re: Shuffle up and Deal

It would be nice if they actually released the bill so the public can look over it. It's not enough to me to say yes or no to casino's, I want to see what's going in the casino.

For example, Bingo hasn't been mentioned yet. Thus far, Foxwoods holds the highest payouts per admission fee price. $10 or $15 on a weekday or night gets you a $300 prize per game.
This beats the daylights out of MA, which offers a measly $50 per game for the same price range.
Will a second high stakes bingo hall go up in MA? This has not been addressed so far as I can tell.

Will there be a stop for the Poker World Tour here in MA? Who controls the process for building the hotels (casino or state)?

I'm not against opening a casino here in MA, but I think 3 + a slot parlor is way too many. One should do, and it should be placed in the middle of nowhere where there actually is space to build it.
2 words: Rockingham Park
Posted by GreginMeffa
Rockingham Park is a gold mine waiting to happen...that Mall was built years ago with the speculation that at the very least..slots would come to Rockingham park. The location is perfect..right off the highway..but they will have to improve the infrastructure significantly. I think once casinos are a done deal in Ma..it won't take long before NH puts one in at Rockingham. They won't want to lose out to MA.

It's kind of a sad comedy that they even need to be discussing this..almost like an acknowledgement that ethics don't even exist.
That being said..can they even pass legislation regarding whether any citizen can or can't work in a certain industry or a certain employer? After all..isn't Ma. a right to work state?
