    The perfect car accident

We bought a car 7 years ago.  Nothing fancy, a 2003 Chevy Cav.  It was running like a lawn mower, and just not worth fixing.  Wife gets very slowly crushed by an 18 wheeler that just didn't see her in traffice on RTE 16 (on the Wellington Bridge).  No one hurt.  Trucker a good guy.  A total.  Insurance company gives us $1300.00 more than we paid for it 7 years ago, and it was dying anyway -for sure!

So, not only did we get a free car for 7 years, we got paid 1300 for the pleasure.

Nothing has been going particularly well for us, this year.  A little luck, is pretty cool.

(See, I hate lucky people, thread).

    I don't

I'm glad that no one was hurt and that it ended well for you both.  Insurance can sometimes pay off.  :)

    Re: The perfect car accident

I had an ice dam on my roof over the winter that resulted in some water damage to my bedroom wall, a wet carpet, and a water stain downstairs.  Called my insurer and he came over to scope it out.  I was fully expecting the middle finger from them, but 5 days later a check for $8k came in the mail.

I spent $37 on some paint and it looks fine now, another $500 on some heated shingle contraption for the roof to prevent it from happenning again.
