Gen Petraeus Resigns As CIA Director Citing Extramarital Affair

No mention of Benghazi and the CIA's culpability in that disasater.  He was schedule to testify on the Hill about Benghazi.  One has to wonder if there is an unstated connection.  This is a video report on the resignation.

    In response to GreginMeffa's comment:

Under Bush, General Betray-US, under Obama, CIA director, and dems were just fine with both.   Says it all

I'm from the left and admit most of us with my point of view never warmed to Petraeus.  I can't explain why Obama embraced the guy but he did.  Petraeus was the architect of the Bush surge in Iraq, which we hated (at least I hated it).  He was also a proponent of the Obama surge in Afghanistan, which I likewise hated but you did not heard too much grumbling about Afghanistan from prominent Democrats and persons in the media who openly espouse a leftward bent.  They seem to have given Obama a pass on Afghanistan.  So, I'll agree with you that there seems to be a double standard in play with regard to military issues involving Obama but not in regard to Petraeus.  By all accounts, he stopped fanning rumors that he would run for political office once he went to work for Obama and became an administration team player.  I see no reason to kick sand in the guy's face on his way out the door.

FWIW here is an interview with Petraeus' alleged mistress (Paula Broadwell).  Seems polished, intelligent.  I'll give him style points in choice of mistress.
