    Lipstick on a Pig

You know the saying, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory really fits these idiots who simply can't get the hell out of their own way.

    http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/09/obama-doesnt-be.html

Any man who's not a total idiot knows there's simply no way in hell you can keep from incensing women when you use the word " pig " in any way shape or form.

Blowing $400 million on an election everyone thought was a sure thing would put anyone in denial.

So what! Ever listen to RW media? Hillary and Pelosi have been putting up with it since they got into power. Man up, or woman up, whatever the case may be.

It's fun watching hypocrit republicans get a taste of thier own vitriolic nonsense and become so shocked and appalled at the incivility.

    What a crock.

The expression is older than Obama, maybe even older than McCain. To treat it as if Obama coined it special to dis Palin is paranoid and disengenuous at best.

I laughed when I heard it, and I laughed even harder at the trumped-up outrage. What a bunch of thin-skinned princesses....

As the comic likes to say: "I don't care where you're from...that sh(i)te's funny."

And again, where's all the 'outrage' from the AARP over Obama's "old fish" comment?? (that was really the better line, IMO)

I think the reaction to it is overblown, but it was still a stupid thing to say politically. Why put yourself in the position of having your motives questioned?

I don't know who I'm voting for yet, but this was blown waaay out of proportion and is being misconstrued.

On Fox (of all stations) they played the whole thing leading up to the pig comment, and it turns out that Obama was asking the crowd to consider how McCain will be different from Bush.

He asked if it would be in his foreign policy, in his domestic policy, his stance on stem cell research, etc. Then he said that they aren't that different, and even if you put lipstick on a pig it's still a pig, meaning even though McCain is saying he's different he's more of the same.

I can't believe no one else has mentioned this yet?

Yes, republicans around the country are cowering in corners because of this comment.

How about this? Anyone can say anything about anyone and nobody will complain or point out when someone says something that may be politically bad? How would Obama like that?

I am a Republican woman and I couldn't care less about what he said. I'm not so sure he did say it in reference to Palin. I think the "RW media" is playing it up on purpose just to show the foolish liberals what it is like when people completely freak out over harmless things are said. "Spade a spade" or "pot calling the kettle black" or "niggardly" ring any bells? How does your own medicine taste?

    I'm not so sure.
There are a lot of old expressions.
    Why choose this particular one?
We all know Obama is extremely well scripted...sometimes using other politicians' scripts. Why elect to choose this particular comment?
What value did it add to what he was saying?
He knows exactly what he was saying and he understands his exact motivation for saying it.
To say he didn't realize that it may be taken the wrong way is proof he is not ready for the subtleties of the job he is interviewing for.

Nice theory, except for the fact that when McCain said it in regard to Clinton's policies, the Democrats didn't bat an eyelash.

That virulent racism is always right there under the surface, isn't it. By the way idiot, if you had been bothering to read, the statement was in relation to McSame's policies, not about Palin. Get over the black/white issues you have, you keep the stereotype of the scared, racist bostonian alive!]

That, to me, is the funniest part of all this: the person they actually trot out to feign outrage is Jane Swift?!??! By all accounts, Mrs. Swift has more experience than Mrs. Palin.

I compared Mrs. Palin to Mrs. Swift early on... the truth is much, much funnier when it hurts.

That's total BS, everytime a politician opens his/her mouth the Dems explode over "intended" meaning like Gov. Patterson claiming that "Community Organizer" is code word for black. What's good for the Goose is good for the Gander. If they dems don't like it they should stop making much ado about nothing themselves. Obama should stop claiming to be taking the High Road because he's nowhere near it.
