Obama's Nobel Prize speech: "My accomplishments are slight"

Finally, an Obama statement that can get bipartisan support.
I give the President some credit for that statement, as well as his recognition in his speech that war is sometimes necessary. He tried to be humble, which hasn't been his strong suit. Still too many "I"s in his speeches.
As Obama's leftist policies please the socialist Euro-bureaucrats, his poll numbers plummet among the American people. That is no coincidence. -

His accomplishments are less than slight... can't think of a single one. Not likely to change either. He so loves himself. -

This problem is with the Nobel committee, not the president. He didn't ask for it, and I believe has handled it the only way he could. Turning it down would be international suicide at the worst possible time. -

Agreed. He's already admitted quite candidly that his selection was a surprise and since he has approached the issue delicately including giving the prize money away to charity (something he would have likely had to do anyway, but the point stands). -

My theory is that Bill and Hillary used their influence on the committee to purposely make Obama look like a doosh to the whole world. -

An ABC reporter unintentionally made a major insult to Obama. She said that he was indicating by his comments that "the president knew his place". In the context of American racial relations history saying a black man knows his place is how southern white leaders referred to black "leaders' who acted in the way desired by whites. the Norwegians by giving the prize to Obama are hoping he will behave in the way desired by white Europeans. Considering how big a mess the europeans made of the world in the 20th Century we would be better off if he ignored their suggestions. -

Big difference between Obama and our last President, who staged the obscene "Mission Accomplished" moment on an air craft carrier, in a pilot suit, when that war was years and years from being over.
Speaking of exaggeration. -

Not sure if you are aware but Bush flew onto the carrier in a fighter jet. The flight suit actually isn't a costume. Flight suits actually serve a purpose. Not to mention that he, nor you or anyone else had any idea AT THAT POINT IN TIME that the war was years from being over. It was a huge mistake to have the "Mission Accomplished" moment for sure. But stop with trying to make a case out of his wearing the pilot suit as some exaggeration. -

I agree. I actually thought he gave a good speech for the most part. I didn't like the ending but over all I would give it a solid A-. -

Oh, okay, the pilot suit was okay. If he had no idea the war was years from being over, maybe he could have SHOWN A LITTLE RESTRAINT? -

In Response to Re: Obama's Nobel Prize speech: "My accomplishments are slight":In Response to Re: Obama's Nobel Prize speech: "My accomplishments are slight" : All of which means nothing about our current "leader". His claim of saving or creating 600,000 jobs with his "stimulus" is a good start to replicating Bush's record of exaggeration. Or how about the exaggeration that his health insurance plan will not add to the national debt? Another joke. By the time he is done, Bush will look like Abraham Lincoln. Polls are already indicating more poeple would rather have Bush now than Obama, that is how little Obama has accomplished.

Where were you to whine and moan when Bush & Republicans passed the "Medicare Modernization Act of 2003", which is projected to add more than $1 trillion to the deficit over 2010-2019.
Or perhaps Bush's tax cuts, adding even more than that?
The only thing Bush accomplished is disaster. That's worse than accomplishing a few positive things.
