[QUOTE]It is no secret that the ranks of scientists and engineers in the United States include dismal numbers of Hispanics and African-Americans, but few have remarked about another significantly underrepresented group: Republicans. No, this is not the punch line of a joke. A Pew Research Center Poll from July 2009 showed that only around 6 percent of U.S. scientists are Republicans; 55 percent are Democrats, 32 percent are independent, and the rest "don't know" their affiliation. This immense imbalance has political consequences. When President Obama appears Wednesday on Discovery Channel's Mythbusters (9 p.m. ET), he will be there not just to encourage youngsters to do their science homework but also to reinforce the idea that Democrats are the party of science and rationality. And why not? Most scientists are already on his side. Imagine if George W. Bush had tried such a stunt—every major newspaper in the country would have run an op-ed piece by some Nobel Prize winner asking how the guy who prohibited stem-cell research and denied climate change could have the gall to appear on a program that extols the power of scientific thinking. http://www.slate.com/articles/health_and_science/science/2010/12/lab_politics.html

What is truly sad is that you think there is some kind of difference between the two parties.  Please wake the hell up.  You are frozen in this ridiculous two party system with nothing but false choices between warmongering republicans and warmongering democrats.

Well thinking logically it makes complete sense.
Scientists and engineers are smart. Smart people are not all that religious. Scientists go into it because they want to help humanity and not themselves, it's already pre-disposed towards democrats. Greedy people who can't think beyond "self, self, self" are republicans. I thought this was always well understood?

I am honestly not trying to kick anything off, and it probably will sound insulting if you are a republican. But you have to admit, whatever party you are that its true, right?

Good point... illegal (ohhh undocumented) aliens and 5 generation welfare frauds are smart too. Perhaps smarter than those who have self respect and work.

BTW, George Bush never prohibited stem cell research.  He only limited federal funding to existing embryonic stem cell lines, those already in use at the time.  This is an often repeated lie of the uninformed left.

Though Bush was far from a tree hugger, it is also wrong to claim he denied climate change.

The President is a cable TV celebrity: he has appeared on all nightly comedy shows including "Comedy Central", on the henpecking "The View" , on "Oprah" ....

This is all leading to his seminal appearance in Feb 2013, on "Pawn Stars"!
.... when he and Michelle will try to sell all the souvenirs he collected during his one and only term as President.

Yet surveys have shown that about 70 percent of former convicts lean Democratic, according to Christopher Uggen, a University of Minnesota criminologist.

Scientists receive grants funded by the US Government.   Some of the research is sound, but a lot of it is worthless.  A nice way to get paid for accomplishing nothing.  What political party wastes taxpayers dollars to pad their base and buy influence?  Enough said.

Well if you believe in only god, there is no room to think about science. Thats why the good science jobs went overseas when people got evangelical. I still believe that god created people to be smart and find out what they could on their own. I would think this was a republican ideal.
So the snot nosed evangelicals ruinied the economy to force the second coming. It may work yet but it will be the second coming of the bank to re reposses the property.

In Boston. They had a foot of snow in New Mexico and record cold in December. That is how it works and what climate changers never could wrap their heads around.
