    Religious Patriotism.

    http://religion.blogs.cnn.com/2011/09/28/patriotism-and-the-god-gap/?&hpt=hp_c2

Apparently there is a link between being ultra-religious (evangelical Xians) and ultra-patriotic. Why is that? Personally I think that some people are prone to "extremism", so it makes sense that if they show extreme beliefs for one thing they are going to for other stuff.
I guess thats why ultra-religious people are also more prone to being racist/sexist/anti-gay etc. Or is it that free-thinking people (not "sheeple") are more likely to not be religious or see the USA as anything special? ie more critical in their thinking, less biased.

I often find that people who go around shouting their patriotism from the rooftops or extolling the virtues of their religion...generally know little about either. People who understand both religion and patriotism know that they are both personal and you can't force them on anyone.

School of hard knocks, bubbie.  None of that fancy socialist reprogramming on my parents dime, you know, the schools for the rich and the upper middle class, where their kids go and learn to be caring liberals.  all over this board.

skeeter I'm being honest when I say this, I do like you and enjoy our ba$% busting of each other.

No disrespect to you, I find this site to be like the  playground when I was a kid growing up, playing a pick up game of anything, fighting tooth and nail to win but nobody kept any standing, just making plays, talking smack , zinging each  other and laughing and enjoying myself the WHOLE TIME !!!!!!!

Well well. Maybe just 1 try-it-out gay experience will be enough. Show you're open-minded. You don't have to go the whole way.
But isn't a "progressive homosexual" a conservative? Otherwise you would just be standing with all the other liberal ones.

You are not in the center....you refer to me as a "leftie" all the time..and I am the most "in the center" person I know..so therefore by definition you are right of center...or as someone else stated more likely in the center of right.
Beyond that..you'd probably better be careful with your little "pretend to be progressive" ruse that you have going on. I have a feeling some of your less intelligent right winger friends are not quite getting it.
