    What about a Clinton/Obama ticket?

Globe columnist Ellen Goodman writes today that her dream presidential ticket would be a Clinton/Obama team.

How likely do you think this is to happen? And who would you suggest lead the ticket?

I doubt it. The smartest move would be Bill Richardson. Sure, I supported his candidacy, but the guy is well qualified, can help capture the hispanic vote, and is a generally pro-gun westerner which should also help win votes in the south inaddition to the west.

The thought of Hillary as President is scaaaaaaaary!!!! She's unethical and her track record as a person is low quality. We've had enough of the Bush/Clinton years!!! It's truly time for a change.

Let's go one (big) step at a time. How about an Obama/Gore ticket? Obama for inspiration and hope (and President), Gore for experience (and Vice President). Now that's a dream ticket! And, no reason it shouldn't happen.

    What about a Clinton/Obama ticket?

I do like the message that John Edwards is saying; however, he doesn't receive enough press coverage ... I don't know why ...

I have not decided whom I'll vote for on Tuesday. I think Romney is a great turnaround business guy and we sure do need somebody with a business background to help this country out of the mess we're in ...

I'm a registered Independent, undecided at the moment.

I really have to laugh at all the pundits who say: buy mutual funds and property NOW. Well, I have NO disposable $$$ for those things!!!! I want to stay warm for the winter, buy groceries, pay for my health insurance and hopefully have enough left over for medications.

Is that too much to expect??

    What about a Clinton/Obama ticket?

For a couple of reasons this isn't going to happen. While it would be historic and definately do a lot as far as race and gender go in this country, the Democrats still want to win and a Hillary/Obama ticket would be a definate loser. Not becasue of race, not because of gender but simply because they gain NOTHING by being on the same ticket and they cancel one another out. A more likely scenario is a Hillary/Richardson or Obama/Biden. Richardson gives Hillary the West Coast and Hispanic vote especially important against a potential McCain and Biden gives Obama Foreign Policy credibilty. It doesn't matter anyway because the winning ticket it is going to be McCain/Rice anyway (how do like that for political curveballs).

What a surprise?!!! A Globe columnist considers 2 socialists on the ticket as a 'dream'. Ellen, I know you're seriously misguided, but this would be a nightmare, not a dream. Unfortunately, i think the dems ARE going to win this time, and it really doesn't matter which dems are on the ticket. They will further lead this once great country down the toilet of socialism.

    What about a Clinton/Obama ticket?

When you wonder why health insurance is so expensive, all you need do is think of personal injury lawyers, like John Edwards was, and you'll have your answer. Personal injury lawyers make all goods and services more expensive in this country with their ridiculous lawsuits. A vote for Edwards is a vote of ignorance.

I agree with you about Edwards, but just doesn't have enough traction. I also think he would run better against the Republicans than either Hillary or Obama. I'm a registered independent and and may not make up my mind until I grab my ballot on Feb 5th (since Richardson dropped out...speaking of a good candidate that never had traction!).

    What about a Clinton/Obama ticket?

Well, I'm going to stick my neck out here in this sea of criticism (or is it hate?) and say that I agree with Ellen Goodman. I am a liberal Democrat who would like to see a Clinton/Obama ticket. Obama, as V.P. would give him more experience to possibly lead the nation in the future. I think that if ever a woman were qualified to be president, then Clinton is that woman now! Will it happen? I don't know. There is such a division in this country over issues and , like it or not, religion plays too big of a role for many people in choosing a candidate. It seems that lots of people do not look at the big picture. Another thing, everyone seems to forget that the President is one of three powers that govern the nation; the Legislative (House and Senate) and Supreme Court.

While I agree that personal injury lawyers don't help, the cost of health care problem is much, much larger than that, like how about the profits some of these companies earn??!! And the enormas waste by having hundreds, if not thousands, of insurers without any cost saving consolidation...a big reason why socialized medicine can work.

Not crazy about Hillary, but I'd vote for her over ANY of the crop of Republicans. If on nothing else, based on their stance on health care. The Republicans really suck on that issue.

the fact that you use the term 'corporate greed machine' indicates you are not a capitalist. I am a capitalist, and fully believe all corporations should seek to maximize profits. If you consider that 'greed', so be it. Without that search for 'greed', we would never enjoy the standard of living we do in this country. Of course, corporations must obey laws like the rest of us, and those that don't should be punished like the rest of us.

However, the foolish laws in this land allow scum like John Edwards to pursue absurd lawsuits that do nothing but cost corporations excessive amounts of money (and those costs are, of course, passed on to the consumer). If you want to believe those lawsuit costs have no effect on the bottomline, you need to go back to Economics 101.

    What about a Clinton/Obama ticket?

Republicans look out for corporate America. Many tax breaks were given to people with higher incomes. And these are the people who can afford health care, too. It is time for the U.S. Government to step up to the plate and design affordable health care for all its people. We are one of the few countries in the world who does not have a health care plan for its citizens. One of the reasons, I believe, is the power of the medical and pharmacutical lobbyists. I think Hillary can make it happen. Her first attempt at this, as First Lady, was, perhaps, too agressive and the Republican Congress made sure that nothing got through. Maybe with a Democratic Congree this time around a plan can go through. God knows that the people are needy and ready!!
