Such incredibly sad and tragic news. Thoughts and prayers to their families and friends. Tragedies such as this remind us all how brave our men and women in all uniforms are..and how they risk their lives every day to keep the rest of us safe.

R.I.P as well. They are in my thoughts.

Horrific news. First 2 people I thought of was a cousin-in-law firefighter in Ri and you Sister.

One of the reasons you earned my respect early on.

Both with your service to our country and your choice to be a firefighter.

You went out into the world and not only did well, more importantly, you have done good.

Just as those who lost their lives.

Sadly, the drought and heat in the west will claim more lives and property before it's done.

A tragic day.  This is truly horrific news.

To make sense of it, I've been trying to find some news about the number of lives these firefighters saved, but it seems they were just fighting a fire that threatened empty homes as the town had already been evacuated.  I can't help but think that someone made a huge judgement error and put these people in too much danger to save "stuff".

Fighting a wind-aided inferno in 120 degree weather in hilly, unforgiving terrain sounds like he-ll.

They weren't just trying to save stuff. They were trying to prevent the fire from spreading further. It's what they do. Brave mother f'ers all of them
