Re: So, who fell for the, Republicans Cut Embassy Funding joke?

    posted at 10/12/2012 03:44:25 EDT

    In response to slomag's comment:

It doesn't matter who proposed the spending cuts?  Wouldn't a no vote have been a 1.8 billion dollar spending cut

149 Dems and 147 Reps voting to cut embassy spending would be better than either.

Still, this is a non-point. This is no more congresses' fault than it was Obama's fault for not foreseeing that this particular embassy would be attacked in that particular way on 9/11/12, when it ( and others ) were left alone on all the other 9/11 anniversaries.

Libya is the big distractor the Republicans are trying to gin up.

He didn't say the attack was a distraction, so why are you lying? The intent behind his comment is quite clear. The politicized issue of the attack, NOT THE ATTACK, but the poltical angles being played for gain in the aftermath of the attack are the distraction.

I think WDYWN is 100% correct.  I can't for the life of me figure out what the difference is between an organized or a spontaneous attack.  Either way it was an act of terror.  Either way it was an act of extremism.  Either way, the Ambassador and three other Americans are dead.  You would think this was a Black Hawk Down incident from the way the right is reacting.

The "political angles" you meantion are asking why the admin took 8 days to call it a terrorist attack?

Why they changed the story so many times over 2 weeks?

ASKING who was informed of the embassies concerns for security?

These are what you call "political angles"??? Seriously??

These are what wdywn is saying the right is using to politicize the event??

It is obvious that any critisizm of O or his admin will just be classified as "politicizing" or "just creating a distraction" by the leftnutz!!

    SHAMEFUL!!

The problem is in case you don't understand is that the Obama middle east policy is exploding right in front of us a month before election day.

And why they insisted it was caused by a video no one has seen and carried out by a local mob.

Not Al Queda successfully attacking the unprotected US consulate then torturing and killing 4 Americans and dragging the body of the American Ambassador through the streets of Benghazi.

But that in a nutshell is what happened.

When House Republicans called a hearing in the middle of their long recess, you knew it would be something big, and indeed it was: They accidentally blew the CIA's cover.

Through their outbursts, cryptic language and boneheaded questioning of State Department officials, the committee members left little doubt that one of the two compounds at which the Americans were killed, described by the administration as a 'consulate' and a nearby 'annex,s was a CIA base. They did this, helpfully, in a televised public hearing.

Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), attempted to lock the barn door through which the horse had just bolted. "I would direct that that chart be taken down, he said, although it already had been on C-SPAN. "In this hearing room, we're not going to point out details of what may still in fact be a facility of the United States government or more facilities."

May still be a facility? The plot thickened -and Chaffetz gave more hints. "I believe that the markings on that map were terribly inappropriate," he said, adding that "the activities there could cost lives."

Republicans were aiming to embarrass the Obama administration over State Department security lapses. But they inadvertently caused a different picture to emerge than the one that has been publicly known: that the victims may have been let down not by the State Department but by the CIA. If the CIA was playing such a major role in these events, which was the unmistakable impression left by Wednesday's hearing, having a televised probe of the matter was absurd.

Rep. Issa to aide:  "Would you please prepare a subpoena for Gen. Petraeus?"

"Congressman, excuse me, you have an urgent call on the [security] line."

To aide:  "Er, did that get out yet?  Call it back!  Call it back!  What's the matter with you?  Didn't you know I wanted it closed door?!  Yeah, he knows it's coming!!  By the way, I'll be out for a little while.  No calls unless it's from the last person."

The righties now are on the verge of commiting treason with thier political grandstanding on National TV for all the world to see about the attack on the consulate in Benghazi . If I'm not mistaken the attack is still under investigation and all the facts aren't analyzed yet. So put the USA first before your party and be patient and remember the 4 American Citizens who knew that they were in " Harms Way" and died for all of us.

    More BS.

There have been 15 attacks on embassies and consulates since 1979.  Eight during the Bush years.  It's all relative - an embassy attack looks like Christmas next to 9/11, WMDs, two unfunded wars, the failure to catch or kill bin Laden, Abu Grahib and torture.  Oh yes, Obama's foreign policy is exploding!
