The saddest part of this is that it doesn't even matter that it was made up. The conservative info-sphere is so sealed off from actual reality, that the news that this was all BS will never reach the ears of the millions of conservatives.

Wingnuts will simply move on to the next talking point. No corrections will be broadcast in their echo chambers, no apologies to Hagel...nothing.   And three years from now, they will still be spouting the same BS.

The Washington Post reported as fact that Sarah Palin was signed on to do commentary at Al Jazeera, based on a humor website...

The moonbat echo chambers, talking heads and politicians immediately took the farcical story as fact for many reasons. The most obvious is that it was what they wanted to hear. It confirmed their prejudices and because it was on a moonbat echo chamber...it must be true.

This is the latest example of how the moonbats create lines of attack based completely on lies and innuendo.

One journalist misreports then corrects the false story on Palin and that's your example?  How many members of the right wing media reported the false story on Hagel?  Nearly all of them.  How many retracted it?  None?  In fact one Breitbart's sites actually defended the story trying to claim the person who orginally joked about it was lying and that the story was still true!

I don't know about Hagel but Obama might as well be in the friends of Hamas. Hamas - a terrorist organization the runs the pathetic Palestinian Terrortory - is excused for their terrorist behavior against Jews by this administration. Al Qaeda? Taleebahn in Pahkeestan? They get the unexpected visit from a missle fired from a drone.

But what does Obama have to say about the terrorists that kill Jews? Israel must negotiate! What else can you say about someone that demands that the target of Hamas terrorism must negotiate with Hamas? I mean really, when we were attacked by Al Qaeda, did Obama suggest we negotiate?

WHether Hagel is amongst the friends of Hamas or not is rather immaterial when the President is already their BFF.

Heck all the moonbats here are BFFs of Hamas. For some reason when it comes to Al Qaeda they see terrorists, shooting them up with missles from drones is defneded. But when it comes to the Hamas terrorists that kill Jews, somehow their ability to judge good vs. evil gets short-circuited.

Israel just gave President Obama their Presidential Medal of Distinction.  Maybe your wrong.

Hamas specifically? Or PLO, or more generally Palestinians?

Whether or not the Palestinians are "right", it increasingly seems that the only pragmatic solution is a two-state one.

Israel doesn't want a one-state solution because they fear what would happen if arabs took a controlling share in government. And the arabs, for that matter, don't seem to want a one state solution either. "Death to Jews, Death to Israel" chanted in support of Hamas, and all....

Maybe because they love him. Maybe as a political gesture - here, I'll make you look good at home, and you help us out later.

Well, isn't Hamas and Palestine the same thing these days? Don't they run the place, at least Gaza?

Does Obama force Israel to negotiate? I don't know the details but what do you think would happen to the assistance Israel gets from us if they refused to negotiate and wanted  to tell Hamas, Palestine etc to go f themselves like we did to Al Qaeda?

The whole issue drips with hypocrisy. We shoot missiles at terrorists half way around the world from drones with 1000s of people dead as collateral damage. Israel has to negotiate when the terrorists are attacking them constantly from the neighboring territory and hear bullshiite about "proportionality"?

Seems like we are pretty friendly to Hamas and Palestine by allowing them to go about their terrorist acts with impunity.

Hamas was elected in Gaza, yes, but not the West Bank. Admittedly they have cells throughout the West Bank, but it is not clear that they control their government.

I have been pretty clear here about my support for Israel and disdain for Americans lecturing Israel on how it should deal with Hamas. Look what we did after Al Queda hit us once in a big way. Well Hamas has killed and maimed way more Israelies and Al Queda has Americans.

If some Canadians killed/maimed tens of thousands of Americans in Michigan because they want both sides of the great lakes, over decades.....

..oops wait, it wouldn't be decades. Because we'd flatten them. Immediately.

Israel has been downright stoic in comparison to how we respond to attacks.

One of the few things I agree with Butler on.

Israel is not doing itself any favors by building settlements without the main issue being resolved. A two state solution is likely the best pragmatic result.

But the self-appointed "Palestinians" (arabs that no other country in the region wants any part of) are rather largely responsible for getting themselves in to the present situation.

Their newly formed PLO was already launching terrorist attacks before four arab countries made the mistake of attacking Israel. Well, one of the things that often happens when an aggressor loses the war it has launched...happened....    Israel seized the gaza strip.

And now you've got a loosely assorted group of arabs that, for some reason, no other country wants calling themselves "Palestinians," claiming to be dispossessed of a land they hadn't possessed for centuries and centuries....and which they might not have lost had it not been used to attack Israel.

    In response to Nasser's comment.

"Our basic objective will be the destruction of Israel. The Arab people want to fight."

And an awful lot of them still mean it. Israel, being the only real democracy and our only serious ally in the region, could do with some protection.

I like that the GOP strongly supports Israel, and it really bothers me to hear many on the left start screaming about "aparthied" and "occupation," completely ignoring the history that brought the situation to the present.

See the thing about aparthied....        blacks weren't chanting "death to whites," black terrorist groups didn't murder tens of thousands of whites, white south africa was not surrounded by more black nations, all of whom repeatedly stated over the decades that they wish for white south africa to be destroyed. Other black nations did not fund terrorist groups to attack white south africa.

So as for who is more extreme on the question of Israel, I think it is plainly the Democrats.

"And then last night, we learned the news of this attack in Benghazi.

As Americans, let us never, ever forget that our freedom is only sustained because there are people who are willing to fight for it, to stand up for it, and in some cases, lay down their lives for it.  Our country is only as strong as the character of our people and the service of those both civilian and military who represent us around the globe.

No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character, or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for. "
