Worf reveals that tribbles were hunted down and exterminated by the Klingon Empire; specially trained warriors were sent to kill every tribble in existence, and an armada of Klingon vessels obliterated the tribble's home world, planet number IV of the Iota Geminorum star system. Tribbles emit a loud shrieking noise instead of their normal soothing purr in the presence of Klingons. Deep Space Nine Security Officer Odo, amused by the irony of the fierce Klingons hunting the gentle tribbles, dryly remarked, "Another glorious chapter in Klingon history. Tell me, do they still sing songs of 'The Great Tribble Hunt?'"

More troubling is that you quote "newer" Star Trek dialogue, which makes you even creepier. -

I much prefer parodies of star trek to the real thing, as I was never much of a fan (except for STII: TWOK...one of the best sci-fi movies ever)...seen as a bit of heresy among my fellow IT-bots here.
"The Problem With Popplers" is one such great example. -

Sealab also did a vague spoof of tribbles. Loved the first couple seasons. Oddball comedy at its best. -

Lighten up. It's all in the eye of the beholder.
Other people like to sit in trees for days so they can shoot a rare deer with their super special laser sighted gun.
Others like wearing a special flight suit that lets them jump from planes without a parachute and maneuver to the ground, hitting it at 90-120 mph and somehow not dying.
Others watch Jersey Shore.

@ Matty. TWOK was the 2nd movie. I also liked the 4th - it didn't take itself seriously and had quite a lot of funny moments. That's my kind of sci-fi.
Loved The Next Generation as a kid. Though I never liked how the onboard psychic was constantly getting in touch with people's feelings; that cracked myself and my father up.
The original Stark Trek's plotlines often struck me as a little cheesy. And somehow the sets seemed cheesy, yet somehow, the absurd cheesiness of early Dr. Who sets escaped me as a kid... And yet, I always liked the former more than the latter because, like Star Trek Movie 4, it didn't take itself seriously; primarily a comedy/mystery, but in a sci-fi setting. After all, Douglass Adams was script editor for a long while.
I couldn't really watch any of the later Star Trek series because, again, they take themselves too seriously.
(The newest movie though, I think, was pretty good). -

Seasons 1 and 2 were fantastic. Season 3 and beyond begun a rapid descent into garbage.
And what was it with old sci fi and furry creatures? Tribbles, Ewoks, etc. -
