The President looks foolish continuing to hop on this Big Bird stuff. Further proof that he is willing to run with any meaningless controversy, even making ads about it, instead of the real issues.

They need these little meaningless topics to help fill the gaps in time, with 27 days left, there would be a lot of crickets chirping if these minute topics never surfaced for them. 27 days talking about jobs and the economy? The President doesn't have enough real issues material to last that long.

Never mind our Ambassador to Libya and 3 other Americans were brutally murdered and dragged through the streets by Al Queda because they did not have proper security at the US Consulate in Benghazi from this administration.

The taxpayers not subsidizing Big Bird is much more of an outrage to empty chair and the democrats.

Well, someone brings up a miniscule part of the federal budget as a national debate zinger and sound bite.  Scorrre!  But he who you sows the wind...  So, look over there, not over here.  Another acknowledgment.

but doesn't the fact that Romney puts it on the table cast him as somebody who is not at all serious about addressing the federal debt or deficit?

    ------------------------

Maybe you didn't read the OP.  Romney mentioned it once, and he was talking to a PBS guy.  Obambi continually, including a television AD!

Its PBS complaining about the ad.

    Hello

Romney mentioned it once during a presidential debate.  When he was indicating what he would put on the table in terms of spending cuts.  He would have to cut funding to PBS 500 times just to pay for his defense spending increases.  I haven't seen the ads, so I can't speak to them, but Romney's statement was ridiculous and patronizing, and he should be called out on it.

When listening to Republican arguments about defunding PBS, NPR and the endowment for the arts, it has nothing to do with money, which some conservatives may even admit is a tiny fraction of one percent of the federal budget.

The real issue is their fear that a well educated populace will not embrace their rigid, faith based stances. Well educated and aware people tend to question pre-emptive wars, our 'war on drugs' which imprisons many casual users to the enrichment of a profitable prison system, and the ability to freely choose when it comes to life changing decisions, like birth control and abortion.

PBS often and fearlessly discusses these topics, as does NPR, and both tend to show both sides of an issue. Bill Moyers features many guests who clearly advocate positions which are threatening to those on the right. Conservatives do not like any venue which they see as threatening to their agenda and their values.

We may not need PBS if we have Herman Mitt & Eddie Paul starring daily in 1600 TRANSYLVANIA avenue!

Why do we need big bird when we can see Herman Mitt and Eddie Paul do the Munster Mash at 1600 Transylvania Avenue every day?

After all, when they go on their FOX HUNT, they can discuss how a perverted lack of objectivity is far more profitable than public broadcasting....
