Both parties should be open to doing this! If not then they absolutely have something to hide from US citizens

Closed-door negotiations to avert the fiscal cliff haven’t yielded much progress so far, so anti-tax activist Grover Norquist has a suggestion: Put them on TV.

Norquist, the president of Americans for Tax Reform who's become Democrats’ favorite bogeyman, said if President Barack Obama meets with congressional leaders in front of cameras the American people will be able to better judge who is being “reasonable” about compromise.

“It’s the president who is threatening to raise taxes on the middle class if he doesn’t stamp his feet and get his way,” Norquist said Sunday on NBC's “Meet the Press.” “He should get into a room with C-Span cameras there and negotiate. Lets have it in front of C-Span cameras. And if the Republicans are being reasonable, we’ll see that. If they’re not, we’ll see that. Gotta have cameras in that room.”

Bloviator Norquist belongs in the circus with most Republicans parroting their no-taxes-one-dimensional-poppycock.

Norquist doesn't reflect 'conservative' ideology as much he reflects the Republican urge to wave a shiny coin at gullible voters to con them out of their vote: 'look voters - no new taxes ! (just new hidden spending and debt for fake wars and giveaways to the pharmaceutical industry)'.

The Republicans don't have any ideas, but they need to win elections, and Grover Norquist gave the GOP half an idea - a one-sided journal entry that could never balance the books of a candy store - and the GOP ran with this intellectual nonsense.

The United States has historically low individual income tax rates and corporate taxes paid as a % of GDP is at an historical low of 1.5% .

We need higher income taxes; they haven't hurt Germany's or Scandanavia's economies and they won't hurt ours, except for the wounded pride of the top 1-2%.

Right, because Senators in front of a camera never result in grandstanding.

I agree but, the good side is, they will have to make their positions public and we can hold them accountible! Let the people decide from the politicians own words who to support. NOT the opinions of the media, parties, and bumper stickers for a change!

    How?

As I see it, Obam won big.  He won, as Romney pointed out, by giving giftware to everyone.  But, who cares? he won.

So, now, you expect people to think Obama is on the level?  crikey.

53 % of the citizens who voted in the last election do think that Obama and the Democrats in Congress are on the level.

Why don't the righties ever say anything about the gifts that Romney and Ryan were going to bestow on the top 2 % ? BTW wasn't Norquist the one who said all that the GOP establishment needed is someone to replace Obama ....... and have enough digits to handle a pen.

Shooo little boy ! I think your mama is calling you .

Except that's not true, despite what you or Mitt might think.

He won, in part, because the GOP is the least trusted brand in politics right now.

    Well, them and Karl Rove.

The 51% who voted for Obama and the democrats voted for free stuff.  They are not on the level, Obama is not on the level.

    Yet he won.

Who the frig cares about the GOP establishment?  How many times do I have to tell you I have no use for them?  Why in your tiny little world is it Democrats and republicans?  It is socialists vs. conservatives, and most of the Democrats and almost all of the GOP establishments are socialists, in part or whole.  #%^&& them all.

    In part, yes.

However, the fact is that repubs are far more motivated voters during mid-terms than dems tend to be, and vary widely from state to state depending on what the ballot comprises.

Like most political issues, the gaps are demographic in nature.
