Breaking News: In Labor Day speech, Obama blames Bush for economy

    http://www.thefoxnation.com/president-obama/2010/09/05/during-labor-day-speech-obama-blames-bush
Obama first reminded listeners of the recession he inherited from Republican President George W. Bush.
"For a decade, middle class families felt the sting of stagnant incomes and declining economic security."
Just for a change, Mr. President, why not say "for a century",  and blame  Woodrow Wilson...

Yeah but Obama saved us from hurricane Earl unlike Bush who let Kartina attack New Orleans.

There's no difference between R & D except for HOW they want to spend your money.  I'm sure Bush blames Obama for the economy too.  They're 2 sides of the same coin.

Show you WHAT?  I see you haven't read a word of my posts for the last 3 months.  One more time.

All gov't spending is outrageous.  Taxes are only one way of weaseling $$ out of us.  You've got the vicious cycle of deficit spending = inflation = unemployment = an enlarged military = senseless wars = reconstruction costs in foreign countries = borrowing more $$ from China = Federal Reserve printing up more useless paper money = more inflation.....

They get you in gasoline tax, property, state and city sales taxes.  Rising telephone and utilities taxes.  These aren't just Democrat inventions.  Republicans have contributed equally to the problem.

When the Dems, Pelosi and Reid took control of Congress the unemployment rate was 5%.

Today with them in control it is 9.6%, and the real unemployment number is MUCH higher.

Blame Bush all you want but Dems are just as responsible for the lack of action to stop the recession.  Just read any of the many quotes Barney Frank gave us during the Bush admin.  He attempted to block all reform.  You could even say he was a member of the party of no.

If, the voters frustrations stays this high. Nov 3 could mark the largest shift in political power in our history.

Oama and dems are getting desperate; I look for them to extend the Bush tax cuts for 2 years soon!!

After all their gass they have spewed about how bad the tax cuts were. It should be a humbling experience for libs. But, they will probably blame Bush again!

This guy is in way over his head.

He's the first president to pass the buck. Bush inherited the dot com mess and 9/11 he never blamed Clinton.

Dump this guy before he destroys America.

Shocking I tell you.  The Black Klan made such statements is shocking and here I thought race-baiting was an honorable business.

Re: Breaking News: In Labor Day speech, Obama blames Bush for economy

Incomes were flat from 2000-2008.  Without the housing bubble, the Bush economic record was a failure.  He and the federal agencies overseeing housing and the congress had no interest in putting the brakes on it.  For all the talk about an "ownership society", the middle-class was essentially crippled by the houses they bought.

Obama has a lot of problems - some of them self-perpetuating - but he is not responsible for the drastic lowering of the bar of "success" for the American middle-class.  That bar was lowered - perhaps permanently - during the previous administration.

No matter what happens in November, Obama will still be president.  It remains to be seen whether the gop finally takes their share of responsibility for governing again.

"America cannot have a strong, growing economy without a strong, growing middle class, and the chance for everybody, no matter how humble their beginnings, to join that middle class. A middle class built on the idea that if you work hard and live up to your responsibilities, you can get ahead - and enjoy some basic guarantees in life. A good job that pays a good wage. Health care that'll be there when you get sick. A secure retirement even if you're not rich. An education that'll give our kids a better life than we had."

Work hard? Live up to responsibilities? Must be a misprint.

All the goodies doled out by the Obama nanny state have no such requirement.  In fact, if you work hard, live up to your responsibilities  and succeed on your own, you are greedy , racist,  and must be heavily taxed.

    • He's right, so right. about the right, President Obama.

And the right also treats all of us like children, see the shiny bauble?

We are elephants, with a memory of the right wing fools who brought us into this mess.

Yes, "Remember in November" those whose policies, actions and wars put our country on the brink of collapse - The GOP, the right wing.

Yes, do "Remember in Novmember," vote Democrat.

What goodies?  Another not so covert attempt at claiming Obama has opened up the floodgates of welfare.  Give one example.  I dare you.

Taxes have gone down for the middle class since Obama took office.  It may not support your narrative, but it's true.

The Bush tax cuts and Medicare Part D weren't "goodies"...??

If the Bush tax cuts must be extended, then they should only be extended for the middle class and not the richest 5% of taxpayers - the latter being the ones who repubs are really looking out for.

Re: Breaking News: In Labor Day speech, Obama blames Bush for economy

Taxes have gone down in the Obama spin, because Obama defines welfare as a "tax cut"...

"95% of Americans have received a tax cut from my programs'"

Yet only 53% of Americans pay any income tax.
"As a candidate, President Obama promised still more tax credits, including ones aimed at child care, "clean cars," and savings accounts. As the Wall Street Journal explained at the time: "You can receive these checks even if you have no income-tax liability. In other words, they are an income transfer - a federal check - from taxpayers to nontaxpayers. Once upon a time we called this 'welfare,' or in George McGovern's 1972 campaign a 'Demogrant.'"

And you define the middle class as welfare recipients...nice.

They're the same tax cuts that Bush signed...so what's the problem now, besides the fact that the richest 5% won't get any...?
