Re: Can we move on now?

That from the guy who also declined to provide multiple years of tax returns...

Remember, Romney is running in part on his business acumen and yet wont show his papers that reflect it.  McCain made no such claim and so his records are far less relevant.  And the issue of tax rates and tax cuts are far more relevant now then in the last election.  So the issue will still float out there for those that need it.

He said this a while ago, but I guess Mitt should thank John for keeping the issue in the news?

Doesn't made he paid any taxes.  Just means that he didn't violate any laws in the process.

In Response to Re: Can we move on now? : Psst... "I am absolutely confident that [Romney] ... did pay taxes." McCain told the  Las Vegas Sun ’s Jon Ralston during  an interview  set to air on his “Face to Face” program on Tuesday. “Nothing in his tax returns showed that he did not pay taxes.”

Didn't pay any taxes is a figure of speech.  For exampler, if hie effective tax rate was 1%, then I would consider that not paying taxes.

What was his effective tax rate?

In Response to Re: Can we move on now? : “Nothing in his tax returns showed that he did not pay taxes.” Reid accused him of not paying taxes for ten year. It wasn't a "figure of speech". Please stop as you're just embarrassing yourself now

What was his effective tax rate?  Did McCain say he paid Federal Taxes or was he referring to property taxes on his beach front house in La Jolla?

So what DID McCain find in the 2008 vetting process that failed Romney as a running mate so much that he went with that dolt Palin?

And what makes McCain an authority on such issues?

It's no secret that Romney evades taxes by putting his money in offshore accounts.

you are making an assumption now, that you did not have at the time he was running, that is, that McCain had all his marbles.

In Response to Re: Can we move on now? : So what's the problem then?? Oh, his % is too low? Why would that be? Because he made a few charitable donations? So what?  And here we go with the moonbat hypocrisy - the man Obama appointed to be responsible for the IRS CHEATED on his tax returns by failing to declare income. I see that Timmy is still in office. If paying a low % is soooo bad then why not fire the guy that actually cheated? Why aren't you complaining about Obama doing nothing about tax cheats in his cabinet??

Even with Geitners tax issue, he still paid a higher tax rate that Mitt.

Romney has an IRA worth $100 million.  How is that possible?

If he's got nothing to hide, then why's he hiding?  Isn't that the excuse the righties gave for invading Iraq?  If he's not nothing to hide, then why's he hiding it?

    Wait...

...your source is John McCain...??  The guy barely vetted his own disastrous VP pick, so how is he at all credible on this point, much less unbiased in his assessment...?

I've been reading a bit lately about "tax loss harvesting" and the use of financial transactions to exploit the tax code in order to pay the bare minimum later.  Interesting stuff.

It makes one wonder just how much Mr. Romney (or Mr. Ryan) could be hiding from the american people...

...and why they - as rich men - think they have their own set of rules.  Oh wait,...they DO have their own rules.
