Again, that's not true.  There is NO provision in the ACA for non-citizens.

    Not true.

As stated many times, hc costs were skyrocketing well before the ACA was passed

Never a 30% increase in one year!!

    Never or since.

    You made that number up.

Re: CBO: Obamacare will end medical coverage for 7 million working Americans!

"Congress simply ignored "virtually every actuarial principle governing rational insurance pricing."

States that already have Obama-like health insurance requirements have health insurance plans that cost nearly twice as elsewhere. That's what the rest of the states can now expect to pay. About 18 states, including Indiana, will see health insurance premium increases of 35%-65%. Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Utah, Wyoming and Virginia will see the largest rate increases of between 65% and 100%. The bottom line is that the economic future of Americans could not be more bleak. Fewer jobs with lower wages and skyrocketing costs of living are what most American are looking foward to.

On Aug. 9, 2011, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced it was awarding a $28.8 million Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare) grant to 67 community health centers, many of which offer free care to 'migrant workers,' in other words…illegal aliens.

HHS spokeswoman Judy Andrews told CNSNews.com that "approximately $8.5 million will be used by 25 New Access Point awardees to target services to migrant and seasonal farm workers."

Andrews continued: "Health centers do not, as a matter of routine practice, ask about or collect data on citizenship or other matters not related to the treatment needs of the patients seeking health services at the center. The Program’s authorizing statute does not affirmatively address immigration status."

Of course, illegal aliens taking advantage of the American taxpayer is nothing new

That's not nearly the same as them getting access to insurance coverage as citizens will, which was the point.

    But thanks for playing.

Too bad most "american taxpayers" want nothing at all to do with those seasonal farm jobs, but doesn't want to pay $5 for a head of lettuce.

Stop pretending you would want that free care to go to poor american workers...they are just as useless in your eyes.

Is this why everyone from the "civilized nations" come here with their family fortunes to have the life of a family member saved by the finest doctors and hospitals in the world?

If the most expensive and overvalued - the "best" money can buy - means the "finest", then you may be right.

There's no need to be nationalistic about it.  That "We're #1" obsequiousness will only get you so far....

Don`t disagree but, are we not already seeing  a drop in kids headed for medical degrees? Polling suggesting that 80% plus of doctors considering retirement if/when Obamacare kicks in? Medicare assuming reimbursement costs at 50%(historically 85%-100%) to doctors?

All sounds like significantly lower quality of care........no?

    No.

The fact is that a large number of routine procedures and maladies don't need full-fledged doctors to get the same result.  Nurses and HPs will be able to accomplish the same results at less cost.  And preventive care means that a doctor can attend to more serious conditions.  Modern medicine is diversifying, but it isn't going anywhere...not with the sheer number of boomers retiring.

Otherwise, I honestly don't know what to make of people not going to medical school because doctors pay isn't good enough?  Say what?  If getting rich is their only motive, then they should find other jobs.  At the same time, biotech is booming, so maybe there is a connection.  (None of my doctors were born in the U.S., btw.)

Interesting stuff.  My ENT doc is from India and she`s brilliant.  She did go to school in the states though.  I had this argument at Christmas with a lifelong friend.  His thought was that "no doctor should make $700k cuz he(my buddy) works just as hard", (he`s a cop).  Under grad, Grad school, PHD, internship, etc,etc........nobody IMO is worth more than a doctor that can save lives.  Do they do it for the money?...........No.  Will they do it for HALF the money? Probably not.  HC will decline in quality.

Anyway, the argument came down to the same thing he always falls back on.  It always comes down to "need".  "How much does a doctor need"?  "How much money does a millionaire need"?  "How many guns does a gun collector need"?   Is that a Lib thing?  Why don`t Libs get that it`s not "need", it`s want.  It`s the right to make as much money as you want.  It`s the right to work as hard as you want to get as much as you want.  It`s Capitalism, it`s your right, and it`s what makes America great.

We start controlling incomes and having the government decide the pay plans for doctor`s services and we`re in trouble.

    Wait a second...

You're equating the quality of care with the amount the doctor is being paid??  Really?!??

That's the problem with our health care system in a nutshell.  Under the fee-for-service model, doctors are NOT paid by how healthy their patients are; they're paid by how many patients they see and how many tests and scripts they write.

Your assertion means that only the well-off can afford quality care.  That's just absurd and not just a little immoral.  Nobody's life or livelihood should hinge solely on their ability to pay for the care that could save them.

Plus, we're talking about health care service and delivery, not "health".  Overall health can be improved in any number of ways, and not all of them require a doctor...at least not until we get older and things start breaking or falling off.  And even then, positive outcomes can be predicated by longer-term preventive care.

At the same time, a model healthy person can get in an accident or suffer the limitations of their genetic makeup.

I'm not saying all doctors are overpaid.  Far from it.  I just know that, based on the results we're getting as a nation, the overall quality of care does not merit the costs we are paying.    That's what this is all about.  Getting the most for our money.  'Cause right now, we ain't.

Re: CBO: Obamacare will end medical coverage for 7 million working Americans!

Obama isn't pushing out 7 million. It's the employers choice to dance around the terms of Obamacare.  Employer based coverage will drop because the  coverage by the exchanges will be more affordable and most will be shifted there.  Overall coverage will increase dramatically.

"New regulations issued today by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) require health insurers to spend 80 to 85 percent of consumers’ premiums on direct care for patients and efforts to improve care quality.   This regulation, known as the “medical loss ratio” provision of the Affordable Care Act, will make the insurance marketplace more transparent and make it easier for consumers to purchase plans that provide better value for their money."

"Now, the Affordable Care Act does mitigate the effect of high cost sharing in a few crucial ways. Under the law, even the bronze plans will include the benefits in the basic, government-defined package -- with no annual or lifetime limits on total claims paid. That's a vast improvement over the present individual market, in which policies can have huge, hidden gaps that leave unsuspecting consumers paying bills they'd assumed were covered.

More important, the exchanges will have subsidies to offset both the premiums and cost-sharing for people who make less money. So poorer people would never face anything like $12,000 in out-of-pocket expenses; that's the reason I can live with the high deductibles.

Or unless your employer wants to actually remain in business and keep people employed.

    So dramatic, Francis.

It's not a question of staying in business and you know it perfectly well.

Capitalism is the best system, but it's still pretty crappy. In a capitalist system, employers strive to get the most out of employees for the bare minimum. These projections aren't about employers having to drop insurance to "stay in business." They simply want to maximize their profits, and if they can F over their employees for an extra buck without too many leaving, they'll do it.

So yeah..enough with the drama queen act.

Capitalism is not about employers getting the most out of employees for the bare minimum.  that's socialist/union nonsense.  Stop beleiving that nonsense that your union bosses tell you.  They are wrong.

Capitalism, when done correctly, is a fair exchange between two parties.  Workforces at the bare minimum tend to migrate to places where the bare minimum is not the standard. Bad capitalists and bad government are wreckingthe system.

In terms of this debate, it is why most companies offer health insurance as it is required to keep their labor in place, ie. not let it migrate to where some other capitalist is offering it.

Obamacare is destroying this, by plan.  In the paraphrased words of one of Obamacare's greatest proponents (Barney Frank), Obamacare is the path to single payer by breaking the capitalist system such that it does not work.

Now, we find Obamacare is failing before it even gets started.  That's the plan.  has been all along.
