You got your messiah, now we've got to listen to him talking about climbing mountains that aren't too high and every melodramatic cliche for four years. Once you realize he is full of b.s. you'll begin to realize how ridiculous he sounds.

Although he is now going to be president, a few facts remain: we have business models and expectations now that don't align. We have people working on assembly lines that want $50 per hour with benefits (Unions), to make cars and somehow compete against China where they pay 50 cents per hour and if you get a cold, you're back in the rice patties. So that Union guy wants his golf clubs, his flat screen t.v.'s and wants to blame the "fat-cats" in his company for off shoring. Obama just gave that guy a ray of false hope. It is hard enough to have companies compete with emerging nations just based on labor costs and now Obama wants to tax the companies that create jobs so that he can give money to another guy that wants a flat screen t.v. and golf clubs, but this guy doesn't want to stand on an assembly line; he wants to sit at home and watch Jerry Springer and eat doritos.

Massachusetts is past the point of no return. Once you hire enough people in government or have enough people dependant on government subsidies, they will vote their own interests and vote Democrat. So as time goes on and the public corruption grows and Dianne Wilkerson's become the norm and not the exception because you've got people playing the race card to shield filth from justice and taxes go up and up and up and up to fee the political machine, will people ever learn? What is the end game, and how much can people absorb before they see that it is unsustainable? There are bankrupt cities in California, New Jersey has property taxes that are three times ours, yet they still vote Democrat.

My philosophy is that if they are that dumb they shouldn't complain. If the rich are paying for the overwhelming majority of the cost of doing business in government and pay for our Military, our safety in firefighters, teachers, police, etc. why are the 40% of people that pay no taxes complaining? They aren't picking up the tab, yet they complain and whine and take and take and take.

Guys, we can't build a society where we have unresponsible leaders that promise welfare checks to millions of those that don't pay a nickel to support our country. Just as the Massachusetts and New Jersey's are past that point of no return and have to pay for the ridiculous amount of parasites of government, so too are socialist nations in Europe. You'll find that their best and brightest came to the United States to get the opportunities we offer. Now, we'll end up attracting freeloaders looking for a free lunch.
what a sad day for america. a man who has never led a department, a company, a committee, a city, or a state is now going to lead a country? i don't think so. not that john mccain was a perfect choice. but contrary to what many think, it wasn't the bush administration that got us where we are, it was the clinton administration.

so sit back, hold on, "enjoy" the ride as this intern learns on the job how to run a multi-trillion dollar company.
George W did real good, how many oil companies did he run into the ground? And then he has done the same to this country. While he made all his buddies rich.

To those McCain supporters who send their best wishes to Obama and his supporters, you are to be commended for your class and dignity.

To those of you who still express doubts about what Obama can accomplish for our country (and we all know the many obstacles facing this nation), I say give the president-elect and his incoming administration a chance to prove themselves, that is all we can ask for.
I did not vote for W in either 2000 or 2004, I was disappointed that neither Gore nor Kerry won those elections, but I moved on, and never for one moment, hoped that W would fail in his presidency, and I certainly do not rejoice in the current state of our country. If you harbor such feelings of ill will towards an Obama/Biden administration, I pity you for having such a negative, pathetic and miserable outlook. We must all look at the brighter side of things, and remember that there is always light at the end of the tunnel.
LIKAG, In February 1990 he was elected president of the Harvard Law Review, a full-time volunteer position functioning as editor-in-chief and supervising a staff of eighty editors. So he does have some leadership experience. And if you had checked your facts you might have discovered this yourself. He also ran a brilliant campaign, he knows how to use a computer, etc....
Harvard law review is what you consider to be the leadership experience needed to run a country? Are you kidding? LOL....wow.
So as far as you're concerned being president of Harvard law review and knowing how to use a computer is good enough qualifications to run the US??? I guess we differ in that I expect a bit more from a person taking on such a job.

Ok, all you blind flag waving, shaved headed neo-con/nascar dads with your camouflage/fatigue cloths driving your SUV/ hummer, shouting “support our troops” and “kill them all and let god sort them out”, testosterone laden angry white men, with your locker room mentality, who are the sorriest excuse ever seen for the male species:

Now it is time to step aside, admit that boy bush is a buffoon, realize that it will take decades to un-do the damage he has done. It’s our turn now!!!
And if any republican or the republican party even has to ask themselves/it self, “where did we go wrong?” Then you really have not been paying attention.

My response was specifically to counter "...a man who has never led a department, a company, a committee, a city, or a state"... The remarks about the computer were humorous, though perhaps only to those who don't resent a last dig at McCain. This "lack of leadership experience" thing, in the light of the last eight years in particular, just doesn't hold water.

Now we can almost surely expect:
– Swift amnesty for 12 million to 20 million illegal aliens and a drive to make them citizens and register them, as in the Bill Clinton years. This will mean that Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona will soon move out of reach for GOP presidential candidates, as has California.
– Border security will go on the backburner, and America will have a virtual open border with a Mexico of 110 million.
– Taxes will be raised on the top 5 percent of wage-earners, who now carry 60 percent of the U.S. income tax burden, and tens of millions of checks will be sent out to the 40 percent of wage-earners who pay no federal income tax. Like the man said, redistribute the wealth, spread it around.
– Social Security taxes will be raised on the most successful among us, and capital gains taxes will be raised from 15 percent to 20 percent. The Bush tax cuts will be repealed, and death taxes reimposed.
– Two or three more liberal activists of the Ruth Bader Ginsberg-John Paul Stevens stripe will be named to the Supreme Court. U.S. district and appellate courts will be stacked with “progressives.”
– Special protections for homosexuals will be written into all civil rights laws, and gays and lesbians in the military will be invited to come out of the closet. “Don’t ask, don’t tell” will be dead.
– The homosexual marriages that state judges have forced California, Massachusetts and Connecticut to recognize, an Obama Congress or Obama court will require all 50 states to recognize.
– A “Freedom of Choice Act” nullifying all state restrictions on abortions will be enacted. America will become the most pro-abortion nation on earth.
– Affirmative action — hiring and promotions based on race, sex and sexual orientation until specified quotas are reached — will be rigorously enforced throughout the U.S. government and private sector.
– Universal health insurance will be enacted, covering legal and illegal immigrants, providing another powerful magnet for the world to come to America, if necessary by breaching her borders.
– A federal bailout of states and municipalities to keep state and local governments spending up could come in December or early next year.
– The first trillion-dollar deficit will be run in the first year of an Obama presidency. It will be the first of many.
Welcome to Obamaland!
Oh, by the way I forgot to mention, Mr. Obama is 50% Caucasian, that from his mother. What those who want Mr. Obama to write history by becoming "America's first African-American president" ignore is that his father was ethnically Arabic, with only 1 relative ethnically African Negro - a maternal great-grandparent (Sen. Obama's great-great grandparent, thus the 6.25% ethnic contribution to the senator's ethnic composition.).

That means that Mr. Obama is 50% Caucasian from his mother's side. He is 43.75% Arabic, and 6.25% African Negro from his father's side. Obama's roots not only do not point to him being African American, but that he is a descendant of Arab slave traders. Researching his roots reveal that on his father's side, he is descended from Arab slave traders. They operated under an extended grant from Queen Victoria, who gave them the right to continue the slave trade in exchange for helping the British defeat the Madhi Army in southern Sudan and the Upper Nile region. Funny how circular is history; now the British again face the Madhi Army, albeit this time Shiite, not Sunni, as in nineteenth century Sudan.
But telling America's black community that while their ancestors were breaking the shackles of slavery, Mr. Obama's ancestors were placing those shackles upon their wrists would hardly play as an Oprah Winfrey best-seller.

Of course congratulations is in order. Obama won fair and square. I'm glad it wasn't by only a few votes in Ohio or PA and that it was with room to spare so we wouldn't have to question ACORN etc.

Obama has ALL of the power. I hope he uses it wisely.

There's a big difference between talking about things and reading off of a teleprompter and actually being the leader of the free world with such awesome responsibility.

He asked for it, he got it. Now he needs to demonstrate that he can actually do the job. The time for blame and finger pointing is over, the time for DOING begins now. Bush is essentially gone, he can't fall back on that story anymore.

Obama, you are officially on the clock. Make your choices carefully.

Did anyone else notice missiles from Hamas raining over Israel today??? I wonder what Iran is thinking and how they will behave knowing Obama is now the President. The tests will come early and often.

I'm overwhelmed by the victory and deeply, deeply pleased and hopeful. I truly believe from the depths of my soul that Obama will be a great president, along the lines of JKF and FDR.

We've come so far as a nation and and we're on the verge of an exciting new journey. Perhaps in my lifetime, racist attitudes will finally be held only by the smallest minority of the ignorant in this country, and they will be shunned for their small-mindedness and treated with disdain like the KKK and skin-heads.

Let's unite and give Obama our support, prayers, and encouragement for the good of our nation and the good of the world.

Wow - some of the folks on here really scare me -- did you guys listen to him talk -- yes, i know its talk -- but the man is truly a decent human being who cares for this country and its people -- he is going to surround himself with intelligent and capable people -- he is extremely intelligent himself -- he said himself that he will make mistakes, change won't happen over night, we all must work hard and we all must sacrifice -- he honored mccain in his speech (and mccain's speech was very gracious as well) - can you knuckleheads just give him a chance -- there is no reason not to -- he's in -- he's won -- he's got it -- there is nothing you can do about it now -- all your hate is not going to change the outcome -- try and think positively -- for your children please -- the hate has got to go
