In Response to Re: Dear Rush Limbaugh : Not that you deserve an explanation but I wrote that without proofreading because I had to rush out the door to pick up my kids from school. I'll put my writing skills up against anyone's on this board. You still haven't countered my argument that the party of personal responsibility is actually deflecting responsibility by giving a false equivalency to Bill Maher. I gave my reasons why I believe this to be true and all i get from you is "b%llsh&t" and a deflection to my grammar.

You must be blind then. Plenty of conservatives on BDC said what Rush said was wrong. That aside...what does this "party of personal responsibility" that you made up have to do with anything? Isn't the point of personal responsibility that Limbaugh takes personal responsibility of HIS actions???

I didn't say conservatives, I said republicans.  There is a HUGE difference! I also said significant republicans so yes, I missed it when Romney came on to the BDC and denounced Rush's comments in any sort of meaningful way.  My God, we agree, personal responsibility means HE takes responsibility for HIS actions but since that hasn't happened (and don't tell me it has), the "party of personal responsibility" should have taken their self proclaimed "mouthpiece"  to task for his comments and they haven't.

Actually many said it was "different"

Really? HUGE difference between conservatives and republicans is there? Many Liberals voting republican are there???
So because Limbaugh didn't take responsibility for his actions, other than issuing an apology, Romney has to??? Um...ok. So you'd feel all gushy inside if Romney had scolded Limbaugh? That's all it takes for you? You need someone else to speak out against him and that does it for you? Okey dokey!

In Response to Re: Dear Rush Limbaugh : I'm not sure why this is hard: Both were wrong. Both were different. Those statements are not mutually exclusive. The only point was that Rush chose to pick on a private citizen, while Maher picked on an ex-politician with a platform from which to respond. Doesn't make it OK, but does make it "different." Simplifying everything to the point of meaninglessness is, well, meaningless.

It's not different. Not sure why that is so hard for you. Whether it's a private citizen or an ex-politician shouldn't matter. Neither deserved to be called what they were. End of story.

There IS a huge difference between the conservative philosophy and the republican party. Would you call George W. Bush's term conservative? Why would a liberal vote republican? Another false equivalency. And yes, because Rush did not make an apology and accept responsibility (and he hasn't) then Romney, Santorum, Gingrich and especially Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann should take the self proclaimed "MOUTHPIECE of the republican party" to task for his comments. THAT would make me all gushy inside!

If Sandra Fluke was your daughter, mother, sister or friend you wouldn't call anything Rush has said, an apology.

It's not a false equivalency. You only say that because you're wrong. Deal with it.
And Limbaugh did apologize. You've either been asleep this whole time...or lying. Which is it?

I said that conservatives do not equal republicans. You said then liberals must equal republicans (by voting for them) That is a false equivalency. And Limbaugh has not apologized. Your wrong! Deal with it!

In Response to Re: Dear Rush Limbaugh : Good point.  It`s a lousy apology (both of them) but, they were better than Maher`s apology to Palin, Letterman`s apology to Palin, etc,etc,.... Oh yah, they didn`t apologize.
    Posted by jmel

But the point wasn't about the quality of the apology. He just keeps stating that he hasn't apologized. Hell, no apology is real in these cases. Like the guy who gets caught cheating on his wife and apologizes. The only thing he's sorry about is getting caught.

In Response to Re: Dear Rush Limbaugh : Welcome to the whacko wingnut world of rhetoric vs reality; Rhetoric: Everyone should take personal responsibility for their actions and we are here to ensure that happens. Reality: We, the wingnuts, came up with this slogan first, so we alone, are the only ones who may selectively implement it. No one, especially not with a D after their name, may point out actual wingnut cowardice or personal responsibility dodging because it's not fair to use our own standards against us. Those are the standards we came up with to bludgeon others when we find them in non-compliance with our whacko self-righteousness.

What a load of cr@p. What is scary is you actually believe it.

What has ACTUALLY been said is that it was wrong of Limbaugh AND Maher. And that it ISN'T (no matter how badly the Left wants it to be) different for Maher than it is for Limbaugh. BOTH were wrong to use that language towards the women in question. To call that self-righteousness just proves you don't actually know the meaning of self-righteousness.
What is cowardly is saying it was different for Maher. Can't say I'm surprised though!
