    Dianne Feinstein - Going Postal

Sen. Dianne Feinstein should be thrown out of the Senate for this. But if they did that then they'd have to go after 99 others too I suppose.

It was recently learned that the United States has entered into a contract with one firm to sell 56 buildings that currently house U.S. Post Offices. The government has decided that it no longer needs these buildings (many of which are located on prime land in towns and cities across the country).

The sale of these properties will bring in billions of dollars and, with that, millions of dollars in commissions for the one Company that is in charge of handling the sale and negotiation of the new leases.

What makes this such a matter of concern is that the company that the Government has contracted with to conduct the sales (and the corresponding leases for the new locations of the displaced post offices) is owned by Richard Blum.

Does that name mean anything to you? Maybe it should re-phrased and say that the person who owns the company that is solely in charge of this multi-million-dollar transaction is Richard Blum the husband of Senator Dianne Feinstein.

This is disgraceful. These turds in Washington are so low they can walk under a door. This is a perfect example of how political office has been twisted into a self-serving gravy train where the politicians extort, bribe, manipulate whatever they can for their personal gain.

And why not? They set the rules, don't they?

I guess our low-life Rep up here on the North SHore - Tierney, must have consulted with Feinstein to employ Sargent Schultz defense "I know nothing".

    And then there's the truth.

Richard Blum runs an investment firm that has a 5% stake in CB Richard Ellis, a massive real estate management company.

    Then there's this:

Sue Brennan, a Postal Service spokeswoman, told us in an email that seven firms participated in a competitive bidding process. She said the Postal Service chose CBRE Group because it “was the contractor with the best overall organization, capability and experience.”

I read it, and there is nothing obvious except people you grasping at straws.

Feinstein has repeatedly voted to keep Post Offices open.  Does that sound like the actions of someone profiting from their closures?

Actually, knowing something of political history, I can say it used to be significantly worse for long periods, especially during the rise of trust barons in the mid 19th century...

Not a defense, but a fact.

    So wait a minute.

The wingnuts are mad because the company of the husband of a Dem, who was chosen from a competitive bid process, is selling off surplus gov't buildings in order to reduce waste and overhead costs and generate income?

And what about the politically connected recipients of these sales who stand to profit?

Is the Donald getting special treatment because he's a prominent wingnut?

    http://articles.washingtonpost.com/2012-02-07/business/35444499_1_luxury-hotel-ivanka-trump-trump-hotel-collection

So despite having no evidence that any of these sales are politically motivated and the fact that prominent wingnuts are benefitting from these sales, it's bad because the husband of a Dem is also benefitting from the same sales.

    [/QUOTE]

Why is it that you think us "wing nuts" approve of the bad behavior amoung the Republicans, yet eschew it with Demcrats.  We don't.

if I am wrong, please show me where.

For Democrats, one rich person doing something they don't like is a reason to destroy everything.

but, as we can see with Obamacare, destroying the healthcare of millions (policies being cancelled) is simply the way it was designed to work, and is A-OK.

The message I get from this thread is that, if a Democrat gets painted with some questionable behavior, the progressive defence will be to shout as. Loud as you can, the incorrect and red herring position that the Republicans openly support such behavior.

what a bunch of tools.  In the words of Vito Corleone: SLAP! Be a man!
