Health care reform is what concerns me here. I'm as anti-illegal as anyone on this board. Meanwhile, what's getting shot down are a few specific amendments here and there, in certain committees.

4 out of the 5 relevant committees have approved proposals that contain a public option. So it's obvious I'm paying more attention than you. Or maybe I just get my info from more objective sources?
The majority of Americans don't want what's on the table you pin-heads (collectively, all of you!), don't you get it?
    Posted by dazydo
Polls consistently show that anywhere from 65% to 75% of the American public want a public option, just to pick one certain aspect. About the only proposal most are against is mandatory enrollment, which Hillary was for in her primary campaign, and some BlueDog proposed the other day. That would be a huge gift to the Insurance industry, much like the recent Medicare "reform" was for Big Pharma.

    Really?

PRINCETON, NJ -- In a recent Gallup survey, 89% of Republicans, 64% of independents, and 61% of Americans overall say Americans themselves -- rather than the government -- have the primary responsibility for ensuring that they have health insurance.

Republican Party has been reduced to innuendo, propaganda and mixed with a little filibuster of contentious associations.

Man, what a bunch of bitter whining. Conservatives complain that this president is piling up the debt, but choose to ignore that he inherited one of the greatest economic disasters in the last 100 years. The Bush administration and Republican controlled congress enacted a 1 Trillion Medicare prescription benefit over 10 years - without raising or saving a penny for it.

The Bush administration cut taxes on the wealthy to the tune of 1.7 trillion over 10 years - all while spending more than any administration in history racking up the debt from a Clinton surplus.

The Obama administration is proposing 1 trillion for health care reform - with a path to paying for it - and conservatives flip their lids and cry "socialism." What planet do you all live on?

In the last 8 years or so Republicans have shown me that they will do anything and everything in their power to keep you from retaining an opinion based on the facts that their incompetence is comprised of. It's time for yall GOP hacks to just shut up and go sit in the corner with the rest of your talking point spewing fallacy of a constituency.

You lost the election and you lost an entire generation of voters by getting us into an unnecessary war, ignoring science, and in general acting like ignorant 18 year old jocks. Game over.

The average illegal immigrant family pays about $9,000 in taxes per year

Yeah, those crazy Heritage Foundation commies.

    Another one:

As the debate over Social Security heats up, the estimated seven million or so illegal immigrant workers in the United States are now providing the system with a subsidy of as much as $7 billion a year, about 10 percent of last year's surplus.

Regardless of what the actual number is it is roughly a billion times your IQ.

    Re: didn't see this coming........

Here's something even you can understand.

But, immigrants aren't flocking to the United States to mooch off the government. According to a study by the Urban Institute, the 1996 welfare reform effort dramatically reduced the use of welfare by undocumented immigrant households, exactly as intended. And another vital thing happened in 1996: the Internal Revenue Service began issuing identification numbers to enable illegal immigrants who don't have Social Security numbers to file taxes.

One might have imagined that those fearing deportation or confronting the prospect of paying for their safety net through their own meager wages would take a pass on the IRS' scheme. Not so. Close to 8 million of the 12 million or so illegal aliens in the country today file personal income taxes using these numbers, contributing billions to federal coffers. No doubt they hope that this will one day help them acquire legal status — a plaintive expression of their desire to play by the rules and come out of the shadows.

What's more, aliens who are not self-employed have Social Security and Medicare taxes automatically withheld from their paychecks. Since undocumented workers have only fake numbers, they'll never be able to collect the benefits these taxes are meant to pay for. Last year, the revenues from these fake numbers — that the Social Security administration stashes in the "earnings suspense file" — added up to 10 percent of the Social Security surplus. The file is growing, on average, by more than $50 billion a year.

    Another crazy commie thinktank.

I absolutely want everybody in the country to have insurance. As a country, we are only responsible for our legal population, so we have a moral obligation with insuring affordability only for our legal residents.  So, of course, we ought not partially subsidize the insurance of anybody illegally here.  But, them buying it on their own, and anything we can do to facilitate them bying it on tehir own is only smart. The problem is this knee-jerk reaction.  People do not think anymore.   Goverment sponsored EXCHANGE, is nothing more than an eBAY for bying health insurance.  Buying something through eBay does not mean that Paypal is giving anything.
