Barney Frank started The sub-prime in 1998, with Freddy Mac/Mae. There are utube videos to see for yourself. I think Obama should be a professor or movie actor, not president.  I do not think he is evil but just thinks socialism is the way to go, as do most people who never suffered though hard work, responsibility.

Chief, you really should brush up on some facts:

Barney Frank advocating for Fannie/Freddie doesn't mean he 'started' the sub-prime crisis. Geez, he's one of 435 in the House. If he could do it by himself he must be the greatest legislator this country has ever seen. And if cheerleading for Fannie/Freddie makes a person guilty then Bush-lite and his team are all criminals.

"Between 2004 and 2006, when subprime lending was exploding, Fannie and Freddie went from holding a high of 48 percent of the subprime loans that were sold into the secondary market to holding about 24 percent, according to data from Inside Mortgage Finance, a specialty publication.
During those same explosive three years, private investment banks — not Fannie and Freddie — dominated the mortgage loans that were packaged and sold into the secondary mortgage market. In 2005 and 2006, the private sector securitized almost two thirds of all U.S. mortgages, supplanting Fannie and Freddie, according to a number of specialty publications that track this data."

"Fannie and Freddie, however, didn't pressure lenders to sell them more loans; In fact, their regulator, the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight, imposed new restrictions in 2006 that led to Fannie and Freddie losing even more market share in the booming subprime market."

That's the only number I've found.
    http://www.opensecrets.org/index.php

If you just do the math, which bozo hasn't done, it doesn't add up to his wild claims.

Obama has been in the senate since 2004, he ran for president in 2008.
Even if you count a non-campaign year like 2009, that would mean he has been in national politics for 6 yrs. Which would mean he would have to have averaged almost $130,000 for each year he was in national politics. Nowhere have I seen any numbers even close to that.
Bozo made up the numbers out of thin air, in other words he lied.
The total amount Obama has received from BP is just under $77,000. That's what it states in the article bozo cited and on the website above.

This from the same article that Bozo quoted back in his lies about Obama and BP.  Getting a bit out of hand with how many times OscarBozo and Whatnow3 have either lied or been wildly inaccurate without any factual citations.

Btw that safety award that MMS gave Transocean Ltd. was for drilling activities from January 2008-December 2008 and was presented in the Spring of 2009, before drilling activities began at the Macondo Prospect site.

Since 1990 Republicans have received 75% of political contributions from the gas and oil industries.  http://www.opensecrets.org/industries/totals.php?cycle=2010&ind=E01 Only a fool or a liar would try and represent the Democrats as being the party of big oil.

Gotta love it when people hysterically think that Obama in 4 years will destroy the USA after we just had 8 years of the Bush / Cheney admin.  If we can survive 8 years of the recently ranked 39th worst President in our history, I think we can get through this recession, this oil spill and these 2 wars.  Where were these deficit hawks when Bush was tacking 4 trillion onto our National Debt?  Cutting taxes, fighting wars, and passing Medicare Part D all without paying for it.  It's only a problem when the Dems spend money tho, right?

Fractals... so you claim that Slate wrongly blamed Democrat Rubin for the subprime fiasco, the Village Voice falsely blamed the Democrats, and the Boston Globe wrongly blamed Barney Frank.  Goodness... why do we need all these liberal news sources if they are wrong all the time... we have you?

Question:  Why did Barney Frank say we need more subprime mortgages in November 2008 after the financial meltdown?

This is tedious but soooo much fun.
Like teaching my 4 year old how to use utensils.

Do you even read your sources?

"LIBERAL SLATE: DEMOCRAT ROBERT RUBIN IS TO BLAME
    http://www.slate.com/id/2208371/

"Rubin hasn't been treasury secretary since 1999, and he certainly bears less responsibility than Alan Greenspan, Phil Gramm, Christopher Cox, and assorted other Republican pooh-bahs. "

Virtually anyone who's been in government will have their fingerprints on the subprime crisis in one form or another.
But even the freakin article you cite says Rubin bears less responsibility than your wingnut reprobates. If you don't believe your own sources then you're just being...well a reprobate, wingnut, whacko.

    Re: Emperor Obama

the Boston Globe wrongly blamed Barney Frank...why do we need all these liberal news sources
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, ya see, this is why a lot of people consider you a lying moron.
You claim that the wingnut, idiot of a mouthpiece, Jeff Jacoby is a liberal and a news source.
Right there you lose any credibility you might have had.

Jacoby is a wingnut whacko like yourself who spouts off at the mouth with no regard for facts. He's parroting the reprobate talking points. I know it's soothing to you nutcases and helps to scare away the actual facts from your mind but it's an opinion piece. It's demonstrably FALSE.
But hey, if it keeps you off the lithium and out of the liquor cabinet your mom keeps locked, then knock your self out.

Private sector loans, not Fannie or Freddie, triggered crisis

Here's a few facts for you to digest and then try and refute them. Remember these are independent numbers, not one of your idiot wingnut commentators.

"Fannie, the Federal National Mortgage Association, and Freddie, the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corp., don't lend money, to minorities or anyone else."
"Between 2004 and 2006, when subprime lending was exploding, Fannie and Freddie went from holding a high of 48 percent of the subprime loans that were sold into the secondary market to holding about 24 percent, according to data from Inside Mortgage Finance, a specialty publication.

And as for your Community Reinvestment Act. News flash, didn't apply:

Only one of the top 25 subprime lenders in 2006 was directly subject to the housing law that's being lambasted by you idiot wingnuts.
"What's more, only commercial banks and thrifts must follow CRA rules. The investment banks don't, nor did the now-bankrupt non-bank lenders such as New Century Financial Corp. and Ameriquest that underwrote most of the subprime loans."
    http://media.mcclatchydc.com/smedia/2008/10/13/16/647-20081013-ECONOMY-subprime.large.prod_affiliate.91.jpg

"Fannie and Freddie, however, didn't pressure lenders to sell them more loans; In fact, their regulator, the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight, imposed new restrictions in 2006 that led to Fannie and Freddie losing even more market share in the booming subprime market."

It's hard to believe all the attacks on Obama after 8 years of Bush.  All the Obama haters are the same people who defended Bush or made excuses for him.  Incredible hypocrisy.
