From the most left, religious and Catholic state in the union
http://www.gallup.com/poll/153479/mississippi-religious-state.aspx

    Yup...most religious.  Right behind 46 other states.
I thought the president said there were 57 states? I'm confused.
Don't be confused.  Celebrate diversity.  That's what the left does.  This whole thinking things through is so overrated.

    So, here's what I get out of the argument put forth by the left:

    * Be tolerant, except:

    * Religous people are not tolerant, therefore you can hate them.

    * Catholics and what I learn about them on HuffPo defines all Christians.

    * The standards of tolerance are defined by liberals.

    Re: Gay vs. Religion

    Intolerance exists on both sides. No one is pretending that the left doesn't have it's share of extremists..it's just that those on the right seem to make the news more. ( due..no doubt to the vast left wing media conspiracy that some believe exists).

    Situations like this are tricky. I am not one to hold against someone something they may have said 15 or 20 years ago. People change..positions evolve. In my lifetime I've seen the general position of society change dramatically over the issues and right surrounding homosexuality.

    Given the work that Giglio has done since then..I would tend to say he should speak. After all..what is this country about if not about redemption of soul and spirit. Should we only allow those without blemish to participate? Are we really going to hold him to a position he no longer even holds? That is insanity.

    This is one of the consequences of our 24/7 media world where internet is king..and information can be retrieved about anyone is mere minutes.

    We have to learn to have balance in this country and that is one thing we are sorely lacking. When you balance the difference Giglio has made in the world with some statement he made 20 years ago when most of the country and especially the south felt the same way...which is more important?

    You know..when people wonder and gripe about how it's always the same old people in Washington ..that there is no influx of new people or new ideas...consider this. The average American who may want to participate more actively and perhaps run for office is likely unwilling to allow their lives to become an open book for all the world to see.

    Gays are a cancer...  Why should anyone tolerate such a horrible view?  Why should we tolerate policies based on such a horrible view?  Completely irrational and quite harmful and it should be addressed as such.

    Newsflash:  Different Christians have different interpretations of the Bible.  Many do not embrace bigotry as part of that faith.  You pick and choose from the ideas yourself.

    And in my view, God is far more concerned that you treat others with respect and compassion and that you don't cause needless harm.  Consensual gay sexual practices have no real impact on much of anything.
