In Response to Re: GOP clarifies its view on rape/abortion : Geepers, you can't be serious? Is this a 'Keep your gov't hands off my Medicare" moment? The US military is not gov't? Who knew? Ummm, hey spanky, the US military is using biofuels due to an earmark by  wingnut Senator Inhofe : ----------------------------------------------------------------------- A vociferous Republican critic of the U.S. military's spending on expensive biofuels was himself instrumental in securing federal funds to develop such fuels. Senator Jim Inhofe, at the center of a Washington dispute over the issue, pushed a provision in May barring the Pentagon from buying alternative fuels if they cost more per gallon than petroleum-based fuels. He has called the Obama administration policy "completely skewed." But between 2002 and 2005 Inhofe helped secure $ 10 million in military funds to test such expensive fuels . More than half of those earmarked funds, $5.95 million, went to a company in his home state of Oklahoma. http://in.reuters.com/article/2012/08/06/usa-biofuels-inhofe-idINL2E8J35M920120806 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- As CinC then ya it's the Prez's job to enact the programs that the wingnuts earmarked, like biofuels. And it was the wingnuts who started the DOE alternative energy loan program back in 2005. Obama was using a loan program the wingnuts started to invest in private energy companies.

It wouldn't  be quite as delightful to point out the different points that you make that are incorrect if you were not such a condescending fool.

So you think that a Republican Senator Inhofe implemented and directed the military to use bio-fuels?

I wrote it was implemented by Obama and it was.

One of the few ideas from across the aisle that Obama has accepted in 3 1/2 years. The President is Commander in Chief not the Senator from Oklahoma.

There is a hugh difference in writing that Government has developed this or that when it fact it was developed by the military.

Trying to draw a picture of past precedence when pointing to the billions the Obama administration has wasted on green start-ups with advances that have arisen as biproducts from the military budget is two entirely different things.

Nuclear energy was developed for submarines then later on applied to civilian use in nuclear power plants.

To attempt justify the hundreds of billions of tax dollars borrowed from Red China that Obama wasted on green technolgy bankruptcies to spin-off technology used in civilian life that the military budgets have produced is a bit of a stretch.

You're one of these guys that bloviates and make up the facts to fit your story as you go along.

A few links to support some of your bs versions of American history might help your case.

Besides that a land grant is a lot different then a US President taking federal tax dollars and lending it to startup companies that are headed by your donors.

Companies that later went bankrupt.

In the case of the Solyndra bankruptcy the government was out of 535 million dollars and the Democrat donors who contributed to Obamas campaign got paid off before the taxpayers.

In Response to Re: GOP clarifies its view on rape/abortion:
In Response to Re: GOP clarifies its view on rape/abortion : Well if you're not going to even recognize basic facts then ya, I get condescending. The FACT is that the military IS part of the federal gov't. It is one of the largest expenses in the budget, has the most people in one department and has as it's CinC a duly elected CIVILIAN POLITICIAN. So just quit trying to redefine what is or isn't federal gov't just to fit into some ideological box. The world doesn't comport to ideology, it aligns with facts.  Another fact that you seem to wilfully ignore...The green energy program was created by the wingnut-led Congress in 2002-05. So ya see, Obama does reach across aisles, he uses the DOE loan program that the wingnuts created.
Posted by 12-Angry-Men
Yes the military is part of the government but it operates with a budget.

Nuclear power was developed by the Pentagon not money given by the then President Eisenhower to some Nuclear start-up companies headed by republican donors who put him in the whitehouse.

Besides apples and oranges, Nuclear energy has delivered, green energy to date is an abysmal flop..

For those who only hear about these failing companies one by one, the following is a list of all the clean energy companies supported by President Obama’s stimulus that are now failing or have filed for bankruptcy. The liberal media hopes you’ve forgotten about all of them except Solyndra, but we haven’t.

Evergreen Solar
SpectraWatt
Solyndra (received $535 million)
Beacon Power (received $43 million)
AES’ subsidiary Eastern Energy
Nevada Geothermal (received $98.5 million)
SunPower (received $1.5 billion)
First Solar (received $1.46 billion)
Babcock & Brown (an Australian company which received $178 million)
Ener1 (subsidiary EnerDel received $118.5 million)
Amonix (received 5.9 million)
The National Renewable Energy Lab
Fisker Automotive
Abound Solar (received $400 million)
Chevy Volt (taxpayers basically own GM)
Solar Trust of America
A123 Systems (received $279 million)
Willard & Kelsey Solar Group (received $6 million)
Johnson Controls (received $299 million)
Schneider Electric (received $86 million)

That’s 19 (that we know of so far). We also know that loans went to foreign clean energy companies (Fisker sent money to their overseas plant to develop an electric car), and that 80% of these loans went to President Obama’s campaign donors.

It is the epitome of gov't and private enterprise cooperation. So now the you move the goal posts and say that it has to be successful? Hey spanky, how successful would the nuclear power industry be without gov't money and research? Here's a hint: It wouldn't even exist.

Nuclear energy is a spin-off technology from the military budget not from some President going rogue investing US tax dollars into private companies.

Run by his donors no less.

Big difference.

Another point Einstein Nuclear power had potential from the jump green energy is a gamble at best.

Nuclear power proved it's worthiness after the success in its application to Nuclear sub USS Nautilus.

Green energy has no such record it's nothing but a wet dream for the left at this stage and not worth wasting billions of US tax dollars on.

If it is worth it's meddle it will be developed and marketed by private industry not by the government.

See my long list of goverment backed green failures to validate my point.

Missed again...that's some denial on your part.

Abortion is indeed a legal right, whether it's stated verbatim as such in the decision or not, and certainly more definable a right than that of an unborn human, based as the decision was on a reading of the constitution.

Yeah...that whole nuclear waste product issue is quite the gamble, indeed.  So much that nobody wants to even talk about it as it destroys everything it touches.  Germany, of all places, said no more nuclear, period.

And as someone who works for utility clients on energy efficiency policies, I think you're mistaken about so-called 'green' energy, its record, or its potential to repair or replace some of the serious gaps in our fossil fuel economy.

Really reaching now.

Both subs were lost at sea were Naval castrophes had nothing to do with Nuclear research.

To compare green energy to nuclear is a joke as is your argument.
