"They care very, very deeply that POTUS is an illegitimate president, a foreigner with no mandate"
"and clearly no respect for the time-honored, American, tradition of electing old, white men to the presidency."
Can't indict them all as racists, though it's hard to understand where the stunningly high numbers of people who thought he was a kenyan secret muslim who pals around with terrorists (or any one portion of that string) came from without considering that at least some of them were motivated by race.
Never happened to another President in the past.
"They favor war with Iran and apartheid (or worse) in Israel."
I don't think they favor either. Not close.
They don't want war with Iran. I think they agree with Obama's approach. They don't have one of their own and they gripe about what Obama does simply because, as a result of their own campaign tactics, they are now dug into their own foxhole: anything a 'liberal' says must be disagreed with, otherwise the individual R is a traitor to the party.
As for Israel, I don't think anyone wants "apartheid." Way too strong a word to use here. I could state the opposite: That most Dems seem to want Israel to completely ignore the fact that Palestinians elected a terrorist organization responsible for tens upon tens of thousands of deaths and casualties amongst Israel's men, women, and children over the decades...
...and just plain give them back land, which Israel seized in a just defensive war.
It's mainly that neither side has a solution because there really isn't a solution someone can step in and implement. Palestinians have to fight Hamas from the inside and Israel has to stop its settlers immediately. They're both in the wrong, but I tend to count terrorists and those supporting or complacent in their power as a lot farther into the wrong.
Again: What do you imagine Obama would order the military to do if...let's just say IF (because we know the U.S. would never ever let it get there)...
....IF a pocket of American Indians had fled to Canada in the early 20th century as America seized the last little tidbits of their land. Then, those Indians began a half century of terrorist aggression against the U.S., murdering and maiming tens of thousands of Americans. Then, Canadians elected that terrorist group to rule a province and they continued to pour rockets on our cities?
(Oh and let's also say that somewhere in that mix, Canadians allowed Russia to mount an invasion of the U.S. across their border).
I think the answer is clear: We'd wipe them flat. And we'd have done that after the first volley of rockets. We wouldn't exercise half a century of stoic restraint.
"They want to re-start the Cold War with Russia and start a new one with China."
Please. Some certainly want a trade war with China if you take campaign statements at face value, but I don't see anything remotely like a desire to start a "Cold War" relationship.
And Russia? Again, where does that come from? At most they were making their typical macho noises about "getting tough with Russia", but again, I think that largely falls under the same tree - they've got to look like they disagree with Obama even if they agree.
"They want all of the power to govern without any of the responsibility to govern."
Who? Congress, or just the Rs? An awful lot of congress could be described with the above.
"For them, torture is totally cool, but gay marriage is not"
"global warming is just fine with them, but environmentalism is a commie plot to take over monsanto."
"As one senator said, The GOP has still not fully accepted the 2008 results, let alone the 2012 results. So, why should we wonder when their version of reality does not comport with that of the rest of us...?
Granted, the GOP is still kinda in tact, which is remarkable considering how low they've dropped over the past few years. It's just too bad the new leaders can't measure up to the older ones."
Fair points, again.
