In response to ComingLiberalCrackup's comment:
Citing the "Southern Poverty Law Center" destroys any credibility. In the past, the SPLC had actually done some good by identifying and monitoring real hate groups such as the KKK, neo-Nazis and Skin Heads. But now, regrettably, the SPLC has traded in its limited usefulness for radical left-wing activism.
The Law Center is essentially a fraud and that it has a habit of casually labeling organizations as "hate groups." (Which doesn't mean that some of the groups it criticizes aren't reprehensible.) In doing so, the SPLC shuts down debate, stifles free speech, and most of all, raises a pile of money, very little of which is used on behalf of poor people.
It has become much like that which it previously sought to expose. Today it uses the very tactics employed by white nationalists and other bona fide hate groups to malign large groups of people whom the SPLC most decidedly "hates." It's nauseatingly transparent. With empty, ad hominem attacks and pejorative "hate group" smears, the SPLC strives to politically marginalize its ideological opponents. It's a cynical "guilt-by-false-association" scheme, through which the SPLC hopes â in the public mind's eye â to equate Christians, "Tea Party" conservatives and other traditionalists to the KKK and neo-Nazis.
In recent years, the SPLC greatly expanded its definition of civil rights and hate groups to the point where any organization that opposes the left's favored causes risks being labeled a hate group by the SPLC. It has also moved away from suing on behalf of the aggrieved to raising awareness of the presence of "hate groups." Most of all, for the last 35 years, it has become a real fundraising dynamo.
Predictable. Lets attack the SPLC.
How about we look at the A3P website and make our own determination then?
The American Third Position is a patriotic, democratic alternative to the two parties that have wrecked our great nation. The U.S. political system has been shaped by the corrupt, entrenched, nearly identical Democrat and Republican machines. They are united in their ruthless suppression of all “third” parties.
Parts of our beautiful country now resemble Third World communities in Latin America, Africa and Asia. White people are already a minority in many cities and counties, along with several states, both large and small. Without constructive political action, within a few decades we will become a minority across the entire country. Enough is enough!
The American Third Position Party believes that government policy in the United States discriminates against white Americans, the majority population, and that white Americans need their own political party to fight this discrimination. Our government no longer represents us. The Democrats no longer represent us. The Republicans no longer represent us. There is a real need to educate European Americans that they have common interests, common values, and common traditions.
The American Third Position Party believes that we should put America first!
Lets see what members of its leadership have to say about race in America.
In an interview with West Virgina Public Broadcasing, Larry Bertram, the state chairman for A3P had the following to offer:
"White supremacist is always used by left-wing liberal media types who tend to paint a broad brush on people and try to demonize them," he said. "There's nobody that I know that's a white supremacist because that's like a slave owner, someone who wants to dominate over another person or people.
"What we say, we are white nationalists which means we love our race and are willing to do something to preserve it, nationalist means putting America first.
"When you start to destroy someone's culture and identity, bringing in a different group of people who aren't the same background, that's sort of committing genocide against that group. And we're not going to stand for it without speaking out against it," said Bertram.
Interesting. But maybe Larry is just a rogue member who flew off at the lip?
A3P chairman, William Daniel Johnson, under the name James O. Pace, wrote a 1985 book advocating a constitutional amendment (the "Pace Amendment") that would repeal the 14th and 15th amendments and deport almost all non-whites from the United States.
The Pace Amendment proposed defining whiteness thusly:
“No person shall be a citizen of the United States unless he is a non-Hispanic white of the European race, in whom there is no ascertainable trace of Negro blood, nor more than one-eighth Mongolian, Asian, Asia Minor, Middle Eastern, Semitic, Near Eastern, American Indian, Malay or other non-European or non-white blood, provided that Hispanic whites, defined as anyone with an Hispanic ancestor, may be citizens if, in addition to meeting the aforesaid ascertainable trace and percentage tests, they are in appearance indistinguishable from Americans whose ancestral home is in the British Isles or Northwestern Europe. Only citizens shall have the right and privilege to reside permanently in the United States.”
—William Daniel Johnson (as "James O. Pace")
Also of note, William Daniel Johnson has been a featured speaker at numerous Tea Party events.
Not enough? Lets continue.
When Ryan Murdough, a NH state party chairman ran for a seat in the NH government the state GOP did not support him, calling him among other things "a despicable racist" His platform? Keep NH white.
So, I don't think the credibility of the SPLC is in question here. Their depiction of A3P aligns with A3P's own stated goals and mission. They are without question a White Supremecist organization.
