Can anyone name the three founding fathers that later became presidents who died on July 4th? and for extra credit can you name the only president ever to be born on july 4th?

Please, lets have some fun with this and dont google the anwsers!

I'm going to make a vaguely educated guess. I think I actually came across this on the humor site  cracked.com once

    Madison, Jefferson, Adams?
Madison is wrong but Jefferson and adams is right. You are close though on the other one his last name does begin with an M.. care to give the extra credit question a try?

I suppose Monroe mightcount, though he definitely didn't have as big of a role in the founding as the 'big 7'....
Monroe is right. Even though he didnt have a huge role as a founding father he still is technically considered a Founding father.

Now, have you though of anyone for the extra credit question?? I'll give you a bit of a hint, 1872 was the year he was born on the 4th of july.

No. I feel like the cracked article I read may have mentioned Woodrow Wilson, but if that's right it's not me getting it because I knew. No idea at all.

If I remember correctly it is Coolidge...though I would have to dig through my files for the paper I wrote last year..but I am fairly certain his birthday was on the 4th.

Andie..wishing you a happy 4th as well. Hope you get to do something fun over the holiday weekend. We've already started. We checked out the festivities on our town common and had a bite to eat...but it's too hot out. Our neighbors tell us that we can see the fireworks from our front yard..so that's what we'll do later. Otherwise..I am catching up on a little website management work..no rest for the weary..lol

    miscricket,

Happy 4th to you as well.

We can see our town's fireworks from our front porch so hopefully we both will watch them from there.

Saturday we are suppose to go to a birthday party of my 2 year old niece. If he is up to it, we will be there.

Website management...lots of fun. Lots of luck.

    Speaking of silent Cal:

"About the Declaration there is a finality that is exceedingly restful. It is often asserted that the world has made a great deal of progress since 1776, that we have had new thoughts and new experiences which have given us a great advance over the people of that day, and that we may therefore very well discard their conclusions for something more modern. But that reasoning can not be applied to this great charter. If all men are created equal, that is final. If they are endowed with inalienable rights, that is final. If governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, that is final. No advance, no progress can be made beyond these propositions. If anyone wishes to deny their truth or their soundness, the only direction in which he can proceed historically is not forward, but backward toward the time when there was no equality, no rights of the individual, no rule of the people. Those who wish to proceed in that direction can not lay claim to progress. They are reactionary. Their ideas are not more modern, but more ancient, than those of the Revolutionary fathers."

     http://www.upworthy.com/frederick-douglas-was-asked-to-speak-at-a-july-4-celebration-it-didnt-go-so-well-4?c=upw1

Ten years before the Civil War, the city of Rochester, N.Y., asked Frederick Douglass to speak for its July 4, 1852, celebration. He accepted, but rather than join in the "celebration," Douglass took it in an unexpected direction. Here, Danny Glover performs a brilliant retelling of that speech.

If you recall, Douglass was a freed slave who educated himself and became a noted writer, orator, and social reformer. At 1:09, he suggests why the idea of a freed slave speaking at such an event was...well...weird. At 2:22, there's a great bit about the "blessings" that all free people had but slaves did not. At 3:43, he really nails the rising sentiment of abolitionists at the time.

    skeeter,

I am sure WDYWN will be thrilled to learn you took his advice on something. :)

Wish I could concur that beer/alcohol hydrates but...you know better. On the other hand, if you need to go to the ER to be put on an IV for hydration, the buzz you have acquired probably will reduce the sting and boredom about being in the ER for hours.

Another maternal/health tip. Take some Tylenol before bed to reduce morning hangover. Dring plenty of another fluid...water for example. Gatorade for electrolytes.

Glad you you seem to have a good day. Beer on the 4th. Maybe with hogs and hamburgers and apple pie.

ps...check out the story on Joey Chesnut...won the hot dog eating contest by ingesting 69 hot dogs!!! Can you spell Alka Seltzer???

Depending on the concentration of alcohol, it may. As it turns out, things rumored to cause dehydration - like coffee or beer - generally don't. Enough water is ingested that any increase in urination from the caffeine or alcohol is countered.

Have to strongly disagree on that one. First, the acetomenophan will be processed long before you wake up.

Second, and more importantly, acetomenophan is terrible for your liver if you have alcohol in your system. The label says not to take any if you have more than 3 drinks daily, but this is an understatement. Alcohol and acetomenophan are a recipe for liver toxicity.

If you have any alcohol in you, it is far more advisable to take ibuprofen (advil) or naproxen sodium (aleeve). (The latter might still be in your system when you wake up, as well). Neither have a liver toxicity effect when taken with alcohol, though it's still not a good idea to make a practice of taking them together (stomach lining damage).
Glad you weighed in.

I was going by the old rules. Not being much of a drinker myself, have not kept up with the current recommendations.

Now skeeter not only has taken your advice to go have a beer...he now has the proper advice on what to do in the aftermath.
