In Response to Re: Hey Folks : Thanks mate, and God bless your wife. I'm just sayin', I'm about to become 22 years sober, BUT, maybe psych meds for BP, might be a bad idea. And I majored in Music, and don't have a Ph.D next to my name. I mean, this Zoloft thing for BP, F'd me up.  Surely a Ph.D in medicine MIGHT, have thought of that.  No? I know its gray, and to his credit, my PCP said, "I F'd up, sorry"  But I still stand behind my dartboard, analogy. Or, Gving me Zoloft, is F'ing NUTS! - Ya wanna bring back ALL the psych issues, that made me the addict that I am (and, But for the grace of God, have overcome, 21 years, 300 days and counting), prescribe this guy Zoloft. I OWN my disease man - but my wife figured this one out.  She KNEW I wasn't drinking, or "using", but still saw something REALLY wrong. God bless the ones we love and trust. I most definately married UP.  And today is her birthday, and I will make that plain

Hi Greg.  the body is a wonderfully complex thing, and I find doctors tend to not take the time and care they always should.  I have a friend who went through something similar.  It was difficult to get doctors to pay attention, and the problem was compounded before being figured out.

Glad you are on the other side of it.

Greg, I dont want to get all new agey on you but I think that you should seriously consider seeing an integrative doctor rather that the usual allopathic doctors that most of us use. They're more interested in finding and fixing the underlying problem rather than just masking your symptoms with pharmaceuticals. In any case, best of luck to you and hang in there!

    Hey Greg,

Your comments in music are second to none.   It's funny, but all the "f-ing this, and f-ing that" fits in well with a discussion of RnR.  I do admit though -- the f-word has been used mighty liberally lately.  :D

And you've never said anything unkind or offensive, that's all I know -- although I can't speak for what you say in political debates.  :)

I second the idea of holistic health.  It can't hurt, that's for sure -- even if part of it is the placebo effect.  Come over from the dark side of big pharma -- those guys are out to make a buck, no matter how they can make it.

Oh, did ya know your wife has the same birthday as George Harrison (see the Music Forum).  Please take care, will ya?  :)

Or, looking at the last two posts together, and considering the OP (meaning who, what and why -- capisce?) ...

(Could have chosen one of several over on the right, but this is it, IMO.)

    While we're at it:

And if he can do it, running on one cylinder -- a smoky 2-stroke at that:

Now, since this is beginning to feel uncomfortably like that World War II Christmas Eve "truce", we'd probably better get back to regularly scheduled programming ... Now, where's my piece?

In Response to Re: Hey Folks : Not quite what I meant, mate. I meant, that these great minds that we call doctors (and I like and respect my PCP), seem to "guess", an awful lot. Methinks you're a pretty good dart player, as am I - but the BOARD doesn't care, ya dig?
    Posted by GreginMeffa

That is why they call it "practicing medicine"! Half the time they are guessing. I like my PCP but don't trust any doctor without a thorough discussion.

Live well and prosper! The best revenge!

Word to the wise, if you need psychotropic medication of any kind, and many people do and benefit from them.   Ask for a referral, have the meds prescribed by a psychiatrist or a neurologist. A PCP is a medical dr but he is not a specialist.  You have a right to be examined and evaluated by a specialist before you agree to take this stuff.      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_psychotropic_medications#Z

Because some employers are so wishy washy about these things. Why, the Catholic Chuch has only held these views on contraception since probably the days of St. Augustin in the 4th century. How the hell can you make plans when these things change so quickly?

Now that you brought it up specifically...

...thanks for pointing out just how antiquated and dogmatic such views actually are.
