If you can't stand the heat...

    ...get out of the kitchen.

Congress can't even watch the new pat down...

"The Transportation Safety Authority screening controversy came to Capitol Hill on Monday, as TSA officials demonstrated their pat-down methods at a bipartisan House staff briefing, reports www.politico.com/news/stories/1110/45505.html" target="_blank">Politico. Democratic and Republican caucuses convened the meeting to get the low-down on TSA's new security procedures. One staffer at the meeting said House staff members had to look away during the "enhanced" pat-down demonstration. "The dumbest part: they did two pat-down demonstrations – male on male, and female on female," said the House staffer. One nubile female TSA employee volunteered, "and in front of a room of 200 people, they touched her breasts and her buttocks. People were averting their eyes. The TSA was trying to demonstrate 'this is not so bad,' but it made people so uncomfortable to watch, that people were averting their eyes." As House staffers blushed and giggled, the debate continues over whether screening procedures have been taken too far. A new www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/11/22/AR2010112205514.html" target="_blank">Washington Post poll shows that half of Americans disapprove of the enhanced pat-down, while support for digital backscatter X-ray scans has fallen from 80 percent in early November to around 66 percent today. Still, almost two-thirds of Americans – a clear majority – support the use of scanners and say that fighting terrorism should take priority over personal privacy. Homeland Security chief Janet Napolitano has described the scanners, now in use in 70 airports across the country, as necessary to protect against those who "seek to smuggle powders and gels that can be used as explosives on airplanes."

In order to render a proper and just appraisal, we need to see a photograph of the "nubile female TSA employee" who volunteered for the pat down.

[QUOTE] I can't see the big deal with the scanner. I see funner things all the time. Like the woman trailing toilet paper. Guy walking with fly open shorts sticking out.  Fire TSA and go with local airport control. The whole thing is show. Do you realize how easy it would be to create real havoc. (not gonna say)  I think we should go with the scanner, dogs, profile. quicker and better

The scanners are stupid, too.  They probably would not have caught the underwear bomber, and they certainly will not catch anyone willing to take it the next step:  Bomb up the *ss.

And if people will do that with drugs for some cash, you can bet a crazed brainwashed terrorist will do it for the chance to murder...

A pat down isn't going to find a bomb up the a55 either. So the moral of the story is no matter what is done there is always a way around it. Nothing is fool proof.

It is just another line of defense. I have no problem with it. We shouldn't assume its 100% effective, but it is still a barrier.

The pat down would have caught him however. Since they check specically for explosive residue.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: If you can't stand the heat... :  Yea,  Pat/ scanner is a psychological thing but GOV is gonna stick with something.  Dog might pick up bomb stuff.   There are easier ways now to cause fear!   Tech and other sources have changed big time. I think I.T. is a bigger threat with all the psycho's out there. Even fruit cake  Sorus has mentioned it and one NAZI NUT.

I.T. is a big problem now. But we have to harden targets like airplanes as much as possible.

We should train operatives (TSA or private) to profile and on how to identify people that are nervous or unusually stressed or exibiting other behavior that is suspicious.

The israeli's have been doing it for years and we know how bad terrorist would like to get on one of their planes so, it must be working.

Shows you how puritanical and prudish Americans are - taking a routine search as a sexual advance.  They should get over their indignant, prudish selves.

See the problem was that many were hoping we would fund real security resources and former military specialist but the "everknowing" GOP fought that down.......bring local control or airline-hired security puts us back to sept 10th..and god knows Howie you don't want to have a pre-9/11 mentality....GASP!
