Leftist zealot who shot a man at conservative organization headquarters chose target based on the liberal Southern Poverty Law Center’s “hate map.”

Sarah Palin had a website which identified Democrat candidates as "targets" on a map to be voted out, as dozens of other political maps had...yet Palin was ludicrously attacked and smeared as encouraging violence...Arizona massacre: Should Sarah Palin share the blame? read one headline.

Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik, blamed Palin as well as Sharron Angle for the shooting: œI think [their] statements are totally irresponsible and theyre not without consequences.€

Elsewhere, the Washington Posts Dana Milbank blamed Palin and Glenn Beck for the shooting. Both are finally being held to account for recklessly playing with violent images in a way that is bound to incite the unstable, said Milbank during an appearance on CNN Reliable Sources.€

Of course, the shooter was certifiably insane, and the incident had nothing to do with politics...

Yet here we have a liberal group, the Southern Poverty Law Center, which on a map identified the location of conservative organizations as "hate groups" ....and a political zealot used the map to show up with a gun and shoot up the place !

Shockingly , the shooter Floyd Corkins told FBI agents that he chose FRC as a target based on the liberal Southern Poverty Law Center hate map.€

In case you were unaware, the Southern Poverty Law Center has designated FRC a hate group€ solely because of the conservative organizations position on gay marriage...

FRC president Tony Perkins has called on the Southern Poverty Law Center to take down its hate map.

The day after Floyd Corkins came into the FRC headquarter and opened fire wounding one of our team members, I stated that while Corkins was responsible for the shooting, he had been given a license to perpetrate this act of violence by groups like the Southern Poverty Law Center which has systematically and recklessly labeled every organization with which they disagree as a hate group, he said.

The mainstream media silence is deafening..

Liberal response no doubt will be an attack on FRC....Obama himself was against gay marriage until a few months ago, was Obama part of a "hate group" also?

The Hate Map does not include address, phone, or other specific location details other than the state, the offending group is located.  But beyond that the idea that calling out extremists for being extremists is tantamount to giving a person a license to harm anyone is patently the most stupid thing I have ever heard.  And the folks on the right should be careful, because when questions were asked about the media portrayal of George Tiller after he was killed (primarily by FoxNews but also others) the right freaked out.  But the proof is in the pudding and FRC can claim they are merely an anti gay advocacy group, but the fact is they put out materials and statements that simply don't line up with established scientific fact, calling for the criminalization of homosexuality, likening gays to pedophiles, and a host of other over the top rhetoric that attempts to mainstream the idea that it is okay to marginalize gays.  young teens are killing themselves in alarming numbers because of bullyiing related to their sexual orientation and the people doing the bullying are getting their ideas reinforced by groups like FRC.

FRC is most certainly a hate group.  All they do is disseminate falsehoods about gay people.

In other news, the founder of FRC was busted with male prostitute a couple years ago.

    Nice job justifying violence.

Do you really think it is OK to shoot some people up because of their political views or how you perceive their morality?

Sure seems like you are quick to make excuses and pretty slow to condemn the violence.

I attribute your response to being illiterate and stupid.  I didn't jusitfy anything relative to the crime.  I am talking specifically about the claims the FRC has made about the SPLC.  The shooter didn't do what he did because of the SPLC, he went looking for hate groups because he wanted to do the crime, he had already decided to do the crime, and he wanted to find out who the bigots were.  That isn't SPLC's fault.

Yeah, who would have guessed that people would push back on the FRC's claims when there is verifiable proof that they have acted in ways that go beyond advocating for their issue of choice and have pushed into heated rhetoric that at times have been demonstrably false and serve no purpose than demonize gays?  Good deduction Sherlock.

I think the shooter should go to jail for a long time, he clearly meant to kill people and fortunately he was stopped.  That has nothing to do with the fact that FRC is trying to use the incident for cover for their abhorrent views.
