Re: Liberals cant handle the truth : more evidence that Texas, Red States Beat Blue States On Jobs, Growth

Southern states accounted for more than one half of the nation's population growth between 2011 and 2000, despite having little more than one third of the population. Moreover, the South was the recipient of 95% of the inter-regional net domestic migration (people moving from one state to another). Including a mass exodus of many African Americans back to the South...

95% !!!!  If the South is such a racist ignorant jerkwater, why have so many Americans skedaddled from the supposed liberal paradises...

    is it the weather?

Liberals are in denial, big time.

They think it is still 1960, and get their notions of the South from watching reruns of "In the Heat of the Night"... in case you havent noticed, millions of hardworking ambitious self reliant Northerners  have left, for the South.

What does income inequality has to do with economic system?

US is among the top as well ... so

Poverty rate 30-40 years ago in Chile  45% ... today 15%

A sane approach to "Income inequality" would increase upward mobility and opportunity for all.
That is not what leftists are about.

They prefer to seethe with class envy  and hate, and want to tear down the successful. Rather than upward mobility, they prefer downward destruction.

For the second year in a row, Chile (7th) has outpaced the United States (10th) in economic freedom. U.S. policymakers would be well advised to study the policy differences between the two, and take the better path.

The Index of Economic Freedom is an annual index and ranking created by The Heritage Foundation and The Wall Street Journal in 1995 to measure the degree of economic freedom in the world's nations. The creators of the index took an approach similar to Adam Smith's in The Wealth of Nations, that "basic institutions that protect the liberty of individuals to pursue their own economic interests result in greater prosperity for the larger society".[1][2]

Just goes to show you that income inequality, i.e. striving for betterment works.  Your homogeneic income strategies do not.  Allende was a social facist thug who disarmed his people.  Those who followed, while far from perfect, cleaned up the mess.

So, considering that Chile is a strong economy, where it's retirees are secure without the long hand of government, I guess Friedman was right.

the point of this entire fluff article was to say "States with lower taxes and less regulation outperform those that pursue Keynesian-style public policies," said study co-author Jonathan Williams, who is director of ALEC's Center for State Fiscal Reform.

only an idiot would believe that friedmanite "free-market" economics with less taxes on big business, less worker rights, less regulations, more work for less pay is better than a healthy Keynesian-style economy.

why doesn't the article talk about what kind of jobs? because they are all low paying, service jobs. nitpicking stats to support a political agenda.

Only an ill-informed person would think that Keynes would embrace the open-ended spending currently going on in the federal and state level.  Keynes himself was browbeat by Hayek into admitting that government spending in order to bridge a ressession was at best applicable only within a single budget cycle, and even then, Keynes preferred private spending to public spending if it could happen.

The type of free market economies that Hayek and Friedman promote are the best solution, period.  Supposed "Keynesian" economies, which are really nothing of the sort, and bear a stronger resemblance to the planned economies of the old Soviet Union, are all dead ends.

Government has always been shown to be a poor surrogate for individual economic choice.  You, on the other hand, think that government spending is more valuable to the economy than private spending.  After all, isn't that what we are really talking about?  Not what gets spent, but who spends it?

It would be wise for you to learn a bit more about economics.

It would be wise for you to learn what a "strawman" argument is. i'm comparing a friedmanite "free market" economy to a true Keynes economy. i never said Keynes is the best or that it would support the current corrupt system.

there isn't a more perfect example of the failures and friedmanite econcomics than Chile. i'm assuming you are a working man, and what a fool a working man looks like while supporting friedmanite neoliberal economic policies that give all of the power to private hands and take rights away from working class individuals. what a sucker.

Chile? You mean where the budgets are balanced and the social security system has been privatized to the benefit of their citizenry? Is that the Chile you mean?  Chile gets high marks from people who actually understand these things.

Compare chile to it's neighbor to the East (hint: begins with a capital A), that operates more to your liking, and get back to me.

it would be wise for you to read up and learn some history on Chile under pinochet who under friedman and his chicago boys implemented the friedmanite economics and the effect it had on the working class. truly ignorant you are.

Glad to see we have finally connected the dots on you.  you are an Allende-loving, social facist.  Where did you go to school?  Harvard?  Reds stick together.

Been all over south America.  Chile is better than most.  Which is why you need to look at how your suggestions really work, like Argentina.

exactly, genius. you're going by the Heritage Foundation's definition of economic freedom. the Heritage Foundation is by it's own definition "a think tank—whose mission is to formulate and promote conservative public policies". the economic freedom they are promoting is based on friedmanite crony capitalism. if you have large income inequality then who is really economically free? a few, not the majority. so it doesn't result in greater prosperity for the larger of society. it puts the majority of a nations wealth into the hands of a very small minority.

if you actually took the time to read Adam Smith's Wealth of Nation's rather than just copy and pasting BS from wikipedia you would know that at the end of the book Smith admit's that free market capitalism is doomed to fail and division of labour is monsterous, because it turns people into creatures as stupid and ignorant as a person can possibly be. turning people into machines.

bet you've never seen these quotes before from Smith's Wealth of Nations. because you've never actually read the book....

"Civil government, so far as it is instituted for the security of property, is in reality instituted for the defence of the rich against the poor, or of those who have some property against those who have none at all."

"...men whose interest is never exactly the same with that of the public, who have generally an interest to deceive and even to oppress the public, and who accordingly have, upon many occasions, both deceived and oppressed it."

"All for ourselves and nothing for other people seems, in every age of the world, to have been the vile maxim of the masters of mankind."

    OOOH!

    Successful people, BAD!!!

    Unsuccessful people, NOBLE!!!

There are more than 400 Texas schools in the U.S. News Best High Schools 2013 rankings, including the School for the Talented and Gifted, the top-ranked school in the country. TAG is part of the Dallas Independent School District, about 200 miles from Austin and roughly 250 miles from Houston.

Massachusetts high schools? Only 76 made the list...

    Texas 400+

    Massachusetts 76..

Mass. will of course brag about how much more tax dollars are spent on "education" than Texas...the quality doesnt matter, apparently.....that is the Massachusetts way...spend more, get less.

and on and on BUT you know best becuase you are an expert

Let me try to explain to you in simple term so you can understand (Income , wealth etc ) is relative

If you weight 300 pounds and stand next to at 800 pound person... you look rather skinny BUT IT DOES NOT mean you are not fat (in this case it would be fat inequality)

The Fact is that in 20 years Chile went from poverty rate of 45% to 15% means the country is doing pretty well. Just because a few on top did better does not mean the rest did not....OK
