Libyan opposition is being lead by islamic militants? What now??

    http://theglobalrealm.com/2011/04/04/our-man-in-tripoli-islamic-terrorists-join-libyas-pro-democracy-opposition/

The Libya Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG), which is aligned with Al Qaeda, is in the front line of the armed insurrection.

The Al Qaeda Network as an Instrument of US-NATO Intervention

Both the LIFG as an entity as well as its individual members are categorized by the UN Security Council as terrorists.

Both Washington and NATO, which claim to be waging a “War on Terrorism” are supporting a “pro-democracy movement” integrated by members of a terrorist organization.

What now?  We dismiss the concern, and hope we aren't arming people to shoot at us.

    -------

Dismissing concerns over possible links between Libyan rebels and al Qaeda, the Obama administration has notified Congress it is providing $25 million in aid to the rebels’ effort to drive Col. Moammar Gadhafi’s regime from power.

The most incoherent foreign policy since Jimmie Carter, and having the same effect.

Our grandchildren will be telling their grandchildren about how Obama lost the middle East.
In Response to Re: Libyan opposition is being lead by islamic militants? What now?? : Actually, no. He's got a point here. With intelligence indicating Al Queda is mingling with, and in fact has already infiltrated, the rebels...just what the hell is anyone doing sending guns and money?  At first the Obama strategy seemed reasonable: Get NATO behind it, and indeed make them commit up front. The problem is that there appear to have been some overly rosey assumptions about chances for success, and NATO's committment seems to have been no more than send a few advisors and guns....and blow a few bulidings up. NATO/Obama must now decide between what would seem to be the only two 'pratical' solutions: A. Get out, knowing Gadaffi will slaughter God knows how many rebels and civilians. B. Commit boots on the ground, inviting yet another potentially long and expensive occupation/nation-building exercise. Even if we kill Qadaffi, we're taking a huge risk with whoever steps into power: There is NO rebel leader. But you can bet your sweet ass- Al Queda will do whatever it can to make the leader theirs.....   unless someone stops them.

[ 14 ] Specifically, the op-ed criticized GlobalResearch.ca as "anti-U.S. and anti-globalization" [ 14 ] and Chussodovsky's "wild-eyed conspiracy theories." They are a terrorist group not a political entity. Libya's pro-democracy fighters have formed an "interim government" even as forces backing the country's leader, Muammar Gaddafi, press ahead with attacks against them. Heading up the new government as an interim prime minister is Mahmoud Jibril, who had been working as a representative to foreign powers. The executive body consists of: Mahmoud Jebril – Interim Prime Minister Omar El-Hariri – Minister of Military Affairs Ali al-Essawi – Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Tarhouni – Minister of Finance Jumma El-Osta – Minister of Infrastructure Mahmoud Shamman – Minister of Information Muhammad El-Alagi – Minister of Justice We don't need boots on the ground to topple Quaddaffi. We've done it before without large troop deployments.

How many times is the left going to use the "they can't possibly get organized" defense?  It was used in terms of Egypt, and Egypt is being co-opted by the muslim brotherhood, and considering implementing sharia law.  Not good.

This is a muddled and incompetent foriegn policy coming from Obama.

Someone should tell him he's having tea with sworn enemies of the US. Hmmmm, Can that be considered treason? I think McCain intimated as much during the last election. Go figure.
    Posted by 12-Angry-Men
McCain met with leaders of opposition. That is different than a formed "interim govt" as you stated! They are still trying to maintain any stronghold but so far, unable to.

Dude if, you far left libs could have only been this optomistic about the other 2 wars!

Re: Libyan opposition is being lead by islamic militants? What now??

I have no problem with going into Libya but, anytime we commit to a conflict in my opinion we should go in to win and win decisively not allow it to turn into a drawn out civil war. This is exactly why I critisized the Bush admin in Iraq during the falluja debacle. we told them we were coming and waited for days asking them to surrender then went in to a insurgent fortified city and into guerilla warfare where our troops took alot of casualties. War is ugly but, never sacrifice our troops or treasure (libya) to pussyfoot around and play politics (not too aggressive, don't want anyone to think we're mean). Go in hard fast and get it done!

    From todays news:

As the anti-government uprising looks like it will be a long, drawn-out war, the country is now suffering from food shortages.

Great; who do ya think will need to send them billions in aid???
