Majority of Americans blame Obama for economy

Oh Oh; the wheels are coming of the bus; its about time he's had 2 1/2 years to get the economy out of the ditch. They blame Bush more but they now give ownership to President Obama and his failed plans.

Time for a economy new tow truck company.
Poll: Majority of Americans blame Obama for economy

Washington (CNN) - For the first time ever, a slight majority of Americans blame President Barack Obama for the country's struggling economy, according to a new USA Today/Gallup poll released Wednesday.

But the same poll showed Americans fault former President George W. Bush even more, a trend that's remained since Bush left the White House in January 2009 amid the recession.

When asked how much responsibility Obama bears for the economy's conditions, about 53 percent blamed Obama either a great deal or a moderate amount. That number is up from the roughly 32 percent who gave the same answer six months after Obama took office in 2009.

The poll results come two weeks after Obama announced his jobs plan, a $447 billion proposal aimed at jumpstarting job growth.

But in the public's eye, Bush shoulders more of the burden when it comes to the economy, with nearly seven in 10 Americans blaming the former president either a great deal or a moderate amount. That number is down from 80 percent who assigned fault to Bush six months after he finished his second term in 2009.

The stronger blame on Bush mirrors results from a CNN/ORC International Poll in late July. When asked to choose whether Obama and the Democrats or Bush and the Republicans were more responsible for the country's current economic problems, about 57 percent chose Bush, while 29 percent picked Obama.

Bush's term ended soon after his administration backed federal bailouts to aid the banking and housing industries.

For the survey, Gallup interviewed 1,004 adults over the phone Sept. 15-18, with a sampling error of plus or minus four percentage points.

The CNN/ORC International Poll was conducted July 18-20, with 1,009 adult Americans, questioned by telephone. The survey's sampling error is plus or minus 4.5 percentage points.

It really jump started the economy right?
All it did was keep politically connected chumps employed. It created NOTHING.

Personally, I blame the majority of Americans for the economy.

But Americans don't like taking responsibility for their (Exceptional!) actions, so blame is easier.

The govt's only real influence on job creation should be to create and environment that enhances commerce which usually means lifting govt regulations that burden (cost) businesses and not telling business and business owners that they are the culprits and need to pay more to the govt to fix it.

For the millionth time, it didn't cut taxes, it redistributed money.  People who don't pay income tax (47%) got $500 free.  People who pay taxes, but who are not rich (what ever that means) Got $500, but also absorbed a $500 liability due to the $500 given to those who do not pay taxes.  The 4% or so at the top, didn't get the $500, but got t500 liability.

So, not a tax break, but redistribution of income.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Majority of Americans blame Obama for economy : You're missing the word "unnecessarily", unless you in fact would have the child labor laws, food safety laws, EPA, ADA, FDA, etc., done away entirely. The problem is that the self-titled "true conservatives" (TPers) seem to genuinely intend just that. No nuthin' from guvbament! Of course then you might end up taking a benzene shower to wake up, melanine for a headache, and children's fingers in your sausage. But hey. Free to die, at least. Free to die. I think the real answer is fixing the regulatory system. More specifically: Doing away with the endless layer of reviews for each decision (ie, procurement). Making it as easy to fire a public employee as a private one. And then, letting bureaucrats make real decisions when action is needed, even though that increases the risk of corruption or incompetence, because if you do the above you will at least be able to FIRE them. Oh, and since public pay has more or less met private pay, yeah, the super-pensions and super-helath-care needs to go. That stuff only made sense when it was to make up for god-awful pay. But this talk about government 'getting out of the way' and business shouldn't have to pay taxes is absurd. The first is vague to the usual degree of vapidness. The second is silly. Businesses are going to try to make money regardless of taxes. The only question is how much is enough to drive too many to foreign countries. If you were talking about closing loopholes (which by the way would effectively 'raise' taxes), I could agree. But you really seem to be just complaining about the way Obama says things, not about whether or not the Reps or Dems have any solutions.

ee withthe word "unnecessary" being excluded.  Why, just today, the EPA has put forth some regulation to ban inhalers for people with asthma to save the planet.

    Now, that's unecessary.

Im not a TP'r but I'm not against incremental reform, but I distrust complete change done in crisis mode.  I'm also against mandates from government.

[QUOTE] />>Now, that's unecessary.<< I thought the same thing. Until I read that they're simply swapping one propellant for another. Were you aware of that? Now if the other one makes the delivery of the medicine less effective, then perhaps I might agree. Do you have evidence of that?

Primateme mist won't work with the new propellent and there is no nonRX option for these people.  Government absotism run amuck.  I'm sure Primateme mist is responsibel for a hole in the ozone layer....not.
